Covid Toe

My 13 year old has hot, red, swollen, itchy toes and has for the past 2 days. 111 have advised booking a covid test despite no other symptoms so we are going this afternoon. I am 90% sure it won't be Covid, he hasn't been anywhere for days. My question is if it isn't covid toe does anyone know what it could be?!

I’ve just started a similar thread about my 12 year old DS who has the same.

What are the chances of him suddenly developing chilblains on both feet?! His extends to the sole of his foot nearest the toes also. We’ve been treating him for athletes foot for a week with no improvement 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have never had chilblains in my life until a few weeks after my son got hospitalised with a lot of Covid symptoms last March. He was very poorly but just before lockdown 1 and they wouldn’t test him as we hadn’t been abroad. My toes have been like this on and of since it definitely makes you think it could be Covid after effects.

Has anyone found a relief for this? My son had these last march, and they've flared up again. Plus another of my children has similar. However we have been at home since before christmas! So wondering if it is a covid symptom that remains dormant but has occasional flare ups x

My daughter developed what looked like chillblains on some of her toes in November, 5 days after there had been a covid case in the classroom next to hers at school. A dermatologist saw photos and said they looked like classic covid toes, and there was no reason that she would have had chillblains so we are fairly sure she had asymptomatic covid in November. The dermatologist recommended Eumovate cream to alleviate some of the discomfort. Her toes were getting better until a couple of days ago when she seems to have started to have another flare up which is causing pain and itching, especially at night. She hasnt been anywhere so I'm assuming it can come and go and then come back again, in some people.

My 15 year old son has had this over the past few months. We don't know if it was chilblains or covid toe either. Sudocreme at night has helped. His heels were also purple and swollen.

Karwomannghia · 14/02/2021 08:11

My dd 14 has the same they don’t hurt apart from when they get too hot in the shower after which they’re all purple and she never had other symptoms.
Dh also has had a couple and we think he might have had COVID before mass testing.

My kids have both had chillblains for the first time. I suspect it's from lack of their usual levels of activity.
