Covid positive whilst pregnant

I am feeling unwell and have a covid test booked for the morning. I just wondered what other pregnant women who have tested positive for covid, what your symptoms were?

I have a fever but no temp, skin is boiling to touch. aching all over especially arms, nausea, extreme fatigue, and a headache, chest is on and off hurting too but I have no cough.

The only place I've been other than at home in the past week is the maternity ward at my hospital.

I'm really terrified I've caught it and what it could do to me and my unborn child.

I have no advice as haven't had covid, but I am pregnant. I can understand you're super worried, I would be too. Just try remember that the majority of the time it doesn't pass onto the baby, keep an eye on movements and call MAU if you need to. All the best xx

Ah that's crappy Sad, how many weeks are you?

Covidwoes · 07/01/2021 12:36

I tested positive at 32 weeks. First symptoms were fever and body aches, followed by extreme lethargy then loss of taste and smell. I'm now 39 weeks and all ok, although taste and smell are still recovering. Baby is fine! Good luck with the results.

It's always worrying to get ill while you're pregnant but you have a very high chance of being absolutely fine.

I was Covid positive at 18 weeks pregnant. I felt really crappy, and missed 2 important appointments but midwife and drs assured me if I had to go into hospital for the baby or me I would be seen, which really helped ease my anxiety.

I had 2 weeks of feeling horrific, kept my fluids up as much as possible and ate when I could. I am now 10 weeks on and still very little smell or taste (can taste smoke?!) but other than that I’m pretty much ok. Very very tired but don’t know if Covid related or pregnancy!

My friend had it around 32 weeks. She had it really mildly. She is nearly full term now and her and baby fine!

There is a theory that covid isn't as life-threatening to pregnant women as the immune system doesn't go into overdrive (which is what makes covid fatal). It's just a theory though.
Why pregnant women are advised to be careful is because we don't know for sure hence the erring on the side of caution.

Thanks everyone, I had a test this morning so hopefully get result tomorrow. I'm 36weeks + 3, managed to avoid it all of this time so hoping I still have!! Not feeling as bad today but last night the fever was awful. Baby is as active as always which is great, just giving myself plenty of rest now.

I had it when I was 8ish weeks back in april. Felt rough but I've been worse. DS is now 8 weeks old and absolutely fine.
