Just interested, there doesn’t appear to be any general consensus on this? I’ve seen some say after Feb half term but I’m doubting that.

Easter. Assuming they re-prioritise vaccinations and include school staff.

Last lockdown schools near me went back i think June when nurseries re opened, but only reception, y1 and (i think) y2.
Mine is in reception hence me really hoping that year at least goes back after Feb HT, she needs her teacher and the classroom environment

Letseatgrandma · 06/01/2021 19:05

Last time, it was nursery, Year R, Year 1 and Year 6 who were first back in primary.

CarryOnFestiveNamechanging · 06/01/2021 19:07

May

unmarkedbythat · 06/01/2021 19:07

End of March, early April. Ish.

justchecking1 · 06/01/2021 19:09

Welsh exam board announced today that the internal GCSE exams have to be completed by March, so will have to be before that here, unless they change it again.

MaryShelley1818 · 06/01/2021 19:13

I think end of February, after half term.

Not sure where i got y2 from then, my mistake.

@GoldGreen

After Feb half term - Reception, year 1 and year 6. Like last year. Bubbles of bubbles 15. 3 weeks later all back, but again bubbles of 15 (so some schools will get all kids back and some won’t). Secondary all at home.

After Easter all children back, probably on the back of teachers (who haven’t been vaccinated in first priority group) being first priority in second wave.

I think the same. Obviously no one can say for sure, but I would be very surprised if at least Reception, Y1 and Y6 didn’t go back after the February half-term.

Next school year, with possibly some single day transition like things towards the end of the summer term, and even that concession will be difficult to achieve.

As Boris has promised schools will be the first thing to reopen then I think it will be by after Easter. If vaccinations have gone well by then they will struggle to keep other businesses closed so will have to reopen the schools. If they reopen the pubs before schools again I hope there are mass protests.

Zoomaway · 06/01/2021 19:35

I think it'll be after Easter.

YouBoughtMeAWall · 06/01/2021 19:38

September

Fleshlumpeater · 06/01/2021 19:41

All those saying September do you really think we’ll be in lockdown until then?? All shops and hospitality closed until September? Schools will be a priority to get open. I’ll be rooting if they open the fucking pubs before they open the schools again.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 06/01/2021 19:41

Is there a campaign anywhere to prioritise teachers vaccinations?

YouBoughtMeAWall · 06/01/2021 19:41

@Mumofsend

People saying schools aren't teaching those in, ours certainly is
Are the ones not allowed in school getting the same learning experience?
sirfredfredgeorge · 06/01/2021 19:43

But it doesn't matter what the prime minister says, they said the same last time and were not able to deliver because there was sufficient opposition to it despite this governments and parental demands, and they failed, there's little reason to believe it will be different this time.

toptreeroots1 · 06/01/2021 19:44

Genuine question to people saying September?
It wasn't January to September last time ?!
Why would it be this time ?

Last time it was 23rd March? To the summer holidays for most ?

clpsmum · 06/01/2021 19:44

I think it will be next academic year

MarshaBradyo · 06/01/2021 19:44

SirFred do you work in a school?
3littlewords · 06/01/2021 19:46

Furlough scheme ending will be a good indicator of restrictions being lifted. They won't stop Furlough in April, as it stands now, and keep schools closed until September

Sorryusernamealreadyexists · 06/01/2021 19:46

Feeling the pressure this time. Really shitty tone from newsletters coming home, basically you must log on, you must complete the work, work will be progressive. The work being set is not anything the children have already learned, lots are cut and stick or print offs... we don’t have a printer and only one SLOW laptop. Oh and I work full time in a job that requires me to work my hours at set times and I’m expected to work the entire time Grin Oh and eldest is asd/adhd which is fun to teach Grin

Exactly - and we didn’t have vaccines on the way either!
