Loss of taste & smell

On day 8 today and last night I noticed I was losing my smell woke up today - totally gone! Can't smell a thing at all, no stuffy nose or anything just completely gone.
Just wondering a few things - if you lost smell did your CV symptoms get worse after. I thought I might be over the worst now but google is saying loss of smell is an early symptom.

  • did you lose your smell & taste at the same time ?
  • how long did it take for your senses to come back and did you do anything to help?

@Stargazer2404 did you have many symptoms before you lost taste and smell?

Yes that was the first symptom and then all the other ones came after a good few days

I lost taste and smell around day 3/4. Had my nose in a pot of vicks and couldn’t smell a thing! I had covid at the beginning of November and senses have taken weeks to return, still not back to 100%.

DD has only really had loss of smell as a symptom. Still not fully back after 4 weeks

CortisolandCaffeine · 07/01/2021 17:35

Myself and my son had this symptom further down the line. For me it came 4 or 5 days after the initial symptoms of headache and chills. It was disappointing as I though I was through the worst.

That was between Christmas and new year. It’s mainly back now - they are just a few specific things I can’t smell now.

Mine was the other way round, I was largely better then suddenly lost all sense of taste. I couldn’t even identify if something was salty or sweet, it was a total absence of taste like nothing I’ve ever experienced before!

It’s been 10 weeks since I had Covid and my sense of taste is still slightly off but my sense of smell is awful. Annoyingly I keep smelling smoke!
