It has gone through us like wildfire. DH last one to test positive today. We followed all the rules, washed our hands like crazy, sanitised everything.

It started with dd now we all have it. I’ve just had enough. I don’t even know when we can get out of quarantine if we continuously have to do 10 days then I will lose my job and we will have no money coming in at all.

This strain is scary...its spreading in my office and 3 staff memembers and their entire families have all tested positive within days of exposure

HairyFloppins · 05/01/2021 17:31

It went through our whole house like wildfire as well even though we were avoiding each other.

Are you on a zero hour contract OP? Can't you challenge them if they dismiss you?

sandieshaw · 05/01/2021 17:38

If you have tested positive @Ohbuggeroffcovid then you have to self isolate for 10 days (either from the date of your test if you're asymptomatic, or from the date of first symptoms otherwise).

If your family later test positive as a result of contracting the virus from you, they start a new period of self isolation as above but you don't have to isolate again as a result of their infection.

This diagram was published when the isolation period was 14 days not 10 but probably explains it better.

Of course if your kids are little you can't just pop out and leave them isolating on their own though. Hope you all recover soon.

Why do your fear you'll be sacked? In most cases it's considered unfair dismissal to sack an employee because they were doing mandatory self-isolation. Even for employees with less than two weeks service.

And hope you and your family get well soon.

starfro · 05/01/2021 17:55

Most people will get the virus. This was always going to be the case sadly.

safariboot · 05/01/2021 17:57

less than two years, I meant. D'oh.

You dont do 10 days each time.

You each do 10 days from your own 1st symptoms.
So DH will finish last if he had symptoms last.

So you do your 10 days and then if well enough (and I was illest at 10-14 days) they you can go back to work.

It's almost like viruses can't be contained by politicians!

Is this helpful in any way, OP?
Ditto us! Covid household. DH is in hospital. It's the devil's work this fucking asshole of a virus (sorry... needed to just throw in a micro rant). Flowers

@UsernameSaved this is what I thought but I’ve had track and trace on the phone saying we all need to start again with DH’s positive result. I would have thought now that I’ve had it (or really just getting over it) I wouldn’t need to self isolate again?

Sorry to hear this OP.

May I ask how you're feeling? I hope you have it mildly.

No, they are wrong.

They are useless, they gave me 4 different dates for the end of isolation.
