Just wondering if someone in your house tested positive did anyone else get sick /have a positive test during the isolation period and if so on what day of isolating.

My daughters partner tested positive the Sunday before christmas
she and their daughter had mild symptoms a couple of days later and tested positive on boxing day. They both had to isolate until the following wednesday.

Porcupineintherough · 05/01/2021 13:39

5-14 days here but not clear whether everyone caught it from person 1 or 1 passed it to 2 who passed it to 3.

Ozzie9523 · 05/01/2021 13:43

I was the only one in my household of four to test positive - they were tested a week later and all negative.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 05/01/2021 13:43

We had one out four with a positive test in a family setting. They had mild symptoms fortunately. None of the rest of us have developed symptoms, which of course doesn't rule out we caught it but are asymptomatic.

junglepie · 05/01/2021 13:55

Only one out of 7 in our family got it. 14 Yr old dd had it, only symptom was loss of smell. No one else developed symptoms, despite her spending large amounts of time cuddled up to me on the sofa watching Christmas movies (just before we knew she had it) !

emmathedilemma · 05/01/2021 13:57

I only know 1 person who caught it off someone they live with - their partner had symptoms but they both get tested (I suspect because of their jobs). My friend was also positive although didn't have any symptoms at the time (was quite ill after that though).
Interestingly though I know a number of people where only 1 in the household has had it and it hasn't spread, or at least the others haven't had any symptoms. Makes you wonder though if people are asymptomatic and that's why it's still spreading so much.

My partner started feeling like he had a mild cold coming on 28th December, he went on to test positive on 1st January. A few hours before dp received his positive test I was up during the early hours of the morning with an upset stomach. Since then I've had a sore throat, headache, muscle/joint pain and chills. I took my test yesterday evening so just waiting on my results now.

worriedcovidmum · 05/01/2021 14:17

Seems like it's all varied with no real pattern then. I'm on day 7 of symptoms (tested positive the day after they started) and so far no one in my house - DH, baby or toddler have shown any symptoms but I know we still have a few days left until isolation ends.

I’m following as find this interesting. My husband tested positive yesterday after 3 days of symptoms . And so far so good myself and our 4 month old DD are ok. Hoping we stay this way.

MissSmiley · 05/01/2021 23:19

My DD15 tested positive in October, everyone except one tested positive over a four week period

MissSmiley · 05/01/2021 23:19

7 in household

BirdsInTheAttic · 05/01/2021 23:23

I developed symptoms on day 10 of isolation after DH tested positive, was fine up until then apart from a slight tiredness (which I’d put down to looking after everyone!) I was a bit surprised it took so long - DH wasn’t really isolating from the rest of us as it just wasn’t practical.

DC showed no symptoms at all - I assume one or both of them brought it back from school asymptomatically in the first place, but no way to know for sure.

Smashedavacado · 05/01/2021 23:24

DH received positive test on Christmas Day. DS2 and myself tested positive 4 days later. DS1 was negative despite spending time with us all during Christmas week. He subsequently isolated from the rest of us - including on new year and his birthday on the 3rd!

ButterflyBitch · 05/01/2021 23:26

My son showed symptoms 5 days after the child in his class showed symptoms. My husband and I got poorly 4 days after that.

CarinaMarina · 05/01/2021 23:28

I fell ill and tested positive on day 5 - DH developed much milder symptoms (fatigue, loss of smell and taste) about 8 days after me.

Choconuttolata · 05/01/2021 23:30

I tested positive 4 days after DH on a lateral flow test (was negative the day he got positive PCR), confirmed by PCR. My mother also tested positive at the same time as me despite being negative on PCR 4 days earlier even with symptoms. Brother tested positive two days after us (day 6). My kids began showing signs day 9 still awaiting results.

CuppaZa · 05/01/2021 23:39

One person out of our household of 5 got ill and had a positive test result. The rest took tests a week later, all negative, and a month on no symptoms. I find it really bizarre, as we couldn’t completely SD

MollysMummy2010 · 05/01/2021 23:43

Husband positive, me and daughter didn’t get it. Small flat so no proper isolation for him.

mistletoeandsigh · 05/01/2021 23:48

My daughter had what seemed to be a mild cold at the start of the Christmas hols. It dragged on a bit but was mild. On the 27th my boyfriend very suddenly became achy and fluey in the middle of the day. The following day I did as well. He had a couple of days like that and that was it. Mine went away for a day and then returned along with diarrhoea, rib pains, eye pains, loads of snot and sneezing and finally a cough. I tested positive on the 4th.

frustrationcentral · 05/01/2021 23:53

We're currently on day 9 of isolation - DS1 developed symptoms last Sunday. He was in his room from then until last night when he joined us for dinner! Own bathroom was used and we were very careful handling his washing/plates etc. No one entered his room or bathroom.

No one else has appeared to get it, unless we're Asymptomatic?! We suspect DH had it early last year (pre testing), the doctor feels it's likely I've had it (asthma worsening) and we're puzzled where DS has got it from and wonder if DS2 had it pre Christmas asymptomatically as he was the only one going out for education..

It could just be that we were very careful or very lucky.. or maybe I've just jinxed it and the rest of us will wake up Ill tomorrow ShockGrin

trappedsincesundaymorn · 06/01/2021 00:12

Mum had it, dad never did. dad was mums carer right up until she was hospitalized, she died 2 days later, dad was 82 and as fit as a flea.

SecretNutellaFix · 06/01/2021 00:28

DH started feeling ropy on Dec 2nd, we both got tested on the 3rd because I had a slight cough which went away. Results on the 4th- he was positive, mine was negative. I started feeling ropy Sunday 6th, sent for test on Tuesday, it arrived and was sent back on the 9th, results back positive for me on the 11th. Which was the day DH was admitted to hospital.
