Missed furlough cut off by 3 days, could cry

After being made redundant after 1st lockdown, I was rehired in a new job on 2nd November.
Reading furlough rules you have to have been on the company's books by 30th October in order to claim it now.
Is there anything I can do? I think I'm screwed 😔

So sorry, it’s awful. Does your work have to close though? The rules say you can go to work if you can’t work from home.

I have a strong hunch - based on what the government has done before - that they'll change the cut off date. Don't panic yet.

Do you have a partner who can help? Or you could form a childcare bubble with someone? There’s probably others at school in the same position?

I'm sorry @Zara50. That's rubbish. I can't offer you any comfort re immediate childcare issues but I truly think they'll make a furlough date extension announcement in the next couple of days.

Last time they allowed your ex employer to claim furlough for you, they had some quite clear guidelines, timescales for it. You might find something similar happens this time.
