What happens to all the testing kits that have been purchased and delivered to secondary schools??

Just that really, was watching the news today about 1000s of testing kits being delivered to secondary school but now they are closed until at least February half term could these tests be used elsewhere? Or are they just going to sit there until pupils return? At that stage will they need testing if the priority groups have been vaccinated?

They're not going to go off, am sure they can just he used in feb, I think its highly unlikely enough people will have been vaccinated by the end of feb to no longer want to bother.

I don't know any school that has received them yet actually and I've asked around 12 schools in Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

It’s just another wasted load of money by this shitshow

CosmicComfort · 04/01/2021 21:30

They will be used in preparation for children returning when this lockdown is up, I am guessing.

Complete farce though.....

I think they got the wrong tests anyhow (ones that are only about 50% effective) - not much use so it's pretty academic what happens to them.

Another massive waste of money, what the reason is for them making these bad decisions, I will leave you to speculate,.

An interesting question. Wasn't it Mat Hancock's buddy who was awarded a contract to supply testing kits? He got the contract with no experience of providing medical supplies. Money for nothing if the kits aren't used. I have a suspicion that t was known they wouldn't be because the timing of the announcement meant it was impracticable. It just didn't add up.

I was in school today. No testing kits or any other equipment sent yet and no information on when that might be.

I think Dominic Cummings was heavily involved in the lateral flow testing project.

Ours arrived in school today. We can test staff and children in the keyworker and vulnerable categories that are attending.

Jessuk86 · 05/01/2021 09:49

It does seem a lot of money is being made for the companies that make these tests and interesting someone said it may be Matt Hancock’s buddy, that wouldn’t surprise me!
I think they are the same tests I have to use as I work in a hospital as an administrator. Would be great if they could redistribute to people that are still having to go to work maybe essential shop workers, public transport? Anything to catch at least some of the cases out there in those who can’t stay at home.

They’ll be used just before the schools open again. The testing has just been postponed
