So reckless to send the schools in today, and for what ?
Kids and staff will have passed the virus between them today, the virus will have come back with them into peoples homes.
What a cockup!!!

Ridiculous!!

YouBoughtMeAWall · 04/01/2021 20:43

Totally agree.

Any fool could see over the weekend what needed to happen. Even if he had to announce closures at 8pm last night, it would have been better than this.

RubyViolet · 04/01/2021 20:49

His stubbornness might cost lives !

zeitgeista · 04/01/2021 20:50

nah, really?

Letseatgrandma · 04/01/2021 20:51

Completely agree-it was really reckless. People will get ill and die as a direct result of him telling parents they had to send their children in.

I bet loads of primary schools had bought food for dinners as well.

Cookiecrisps · 04/01/2021 20:53

Yes. Had 31 children back in today for face to face teaching with no social distancing. It’ll spread like wildfire now in many schools because of this.

We should have been told about school closures on 30th December then we could have spent time on decent remote learning instead of planning face to face lessons for this half term as instructed by our head teacher.

No idea how many key workers children we will have in tomorrow or what remote learning the rest of my class should do as our class planning is not set up for this. I guess we will be delivering work books to all the children’s houses when they could have taken them home this evening if we’d have known.

I know l am being paranoid....but it feels like it was done on purpose. They knew the risks.
I know ... l definitely am paranoid 🤣

Teachers and school staff left again with no time to properly prepare, he doesn’t care one bit about State school kids.

Even more bizarrely.... everybody is now stuck inside with their germy families Hmm

Agree private schools aren’t even back around here yet Hmm

Boris Johnson should resign. He won't ,but he should.

KeyboardWorriers · 04/01/2021 21:48

Yes, it was profoundly stupid. But nothing he does surprises me any more.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/01/2021 21:51

There's no way they genuinely thought it was safe last night. I wonder if they thought the NEU would be humiliated by not enough teachers submitting s44 letters and couldn't resist the opportunity to let it happen.

jocktamsonsbairn · 04/01/2021 21:52

He should be prosecuted for this!! He knew the dangers but insisted on sending people in.

Absolutely this.

And maybe he couldn’t provide the evidence requested by the NAHT at 4pm today on how schools were safe.

Timeforanewname2014 · 04/01/2021 21:55

I thought his level of incompetence couldn't surprise me anymore. Seems I was wrong. This is just negligence. My children had an inset day today but for teachers and children for whom this wasn't the case I am furious.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/01/2021 22:12

Ah yes @starrynight19 the NAHT probably were the final straw. Two union wins in the same day.

I was keeping my DC at home anyway but the teachers closed the school so we avoided the germ soup.

Feel sorry for secondary heads who have spent all holiday sorting out testing.

LauristonPlace · 04/01/2021 22:31

And we are still working now supporting schools to try and make some sense out of tomorrow. Gov guidance isn't yet fully updated. Many schools can't even open to priority children tomorrow because plans aren't in place.

Horrendous.
