Sorry, I don't have an answer, op. But l also need to know what the rules are regarding funerals Sad

m0use · 04/01/2021 20:51

Yes - "Funerals can be attended by a maximum of 30 people. Linked religious,
belief-based or commemorative events, such as stone settings and ash
scatterings can also continue with up to 6 people in attendance. Anyone
working is not counted in these limits. Social distancing should be
maintained between people who do not live together or share a support
bubble"

It depends on the crem/cemetery.

Locally to me there are three crematoriums. One allows 20, one is 16 inside and 14 outside, the other is 10.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 04/01/2021 20:53

Thirty is the maximum allowed so it will vary massively.

catkins22 · 04/01/2021 20:57

I don't know if I read it wrong, maximum 30 for funerals but places of worship can stay open for communal worship, with no defined maximum.

SendMeHome · 04/01/2021 20:59

30 is maximum for funerals but the crematoriums will set their own maximum which might be under that. 6 for any wake.

I’m sorry for your loss Flowers

Yes, that’s correct.

The limit for a funeral may be less than 30 if the venue won’t allow 30 with social distancing. For communal worship, the limit is based on the risk assessment of the premises.

If it’s any comfort - an awful lot of places of worship have remained closed voluntarily.

dementedma · 04/01/2021 21:05

20 in Scotland, maximum. Definitely. Was at dad's today

Commonwasher · 04/01/2021 21:06

I don’t think the government website has been updated about that yet. The advice on there currently is from 2 Dec when we came out of the previous lockdown.
The best person to ask is a funeral director, I would phone them in the morning and check.

Weddings, civil partnerships, religious services and funerals

Weddings, civil partnership ceremonies and funerals are allowed with strict limits on attendance, and must only take place in COVID-19 secure venues or in public outdoor spaces unless in exceptional circumstances.

Funerals can be attended by a maximum of 30 people. Linked religious, belief-based or commemorative events, such as stone settings and ash scatterings can also continue with up to 6 people in attendance. Anyone working is not counted in these limits. Social distancing should be maintained between people who do not live together or share a support bubble.
Weddings and civil partnership ceremonies must only take place with up to 6 people. Anyone working is not included. These should only take place in exceptional circumstances, for example, an urgent marriage where one of those getting married is seriously ill and not expected to recover, or is to undergo debilitating treatment or life-changing surgery.

@Commonwasher The funerals page hasn’t, but the stay at home guidance is there from tonight.

Plastictattoo · 04/01/2021 21:27

Thanks for your replies. I hadn’t realised it depended on the venue. I’ll speak to the funeral director tomorrow. Covid has added an extra layer of shit to an already horrendous situation. Lots of love to everyone else who is going through this at this time
