I soooo welcome this news!!

Does anyone know how this is registered though?

Presumably through medical notes? It's on my medical records that I'm a carer for my son. That's how they know to ring me and book me in for my flu jab.

Flossie44 · 04/01/2021 13:24

Ah ok. I’ll maybe check it’s on there. Both my children are ECV. It must be noted then. Thank you

I wonder if I qualify, I receive CA to look after my SN daughter who receives DLA. I usually get called for flu jab but not sure if that us enough.

Satsunday · 04/01/2021 13:26

Do you know where that puts us on the priority list? I had a look but couldn't tell when we might get invited (eg in weeks or months). Thanks

My understanding is that you will qualify yes.

Priority group six
LittleSwede · 04/01/2021 13:35

Just checked and yes, should be in group 6 on priority list! I never would have known OP, thank you.

LunchWithAGruffalo · 04/01/2021 13:35

From what I've seen it sounded like it would be done through carers allowance. Ie the person reciving carers allowance would be elegable, but the other parent or family members wouldn't nessesarily be able to have the vaccine early.

@LittleSwede if your daughter gets mid or high rate care and you earn less than I think its £120 per week then you should be able to get carers allowance. It's not a huge offputting form, just a quick online application. www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/eligibility

Thanks @boredinthehouse

Sockwomble · 04/01/2021 13:39

Although it has been said that they should I'm not convinced that it will happen.

Satsunday · 04/01/2021 13:41

Thanks @boredinthouse

iVampire · 04/01/2021 13:47

That’s interesting

The draft ‘table 3’ had unpaid carers, and immediate household members of CEV, as priority 6 recipients (with the idea of buttressing the most vulnerable.

They were both removed/suspended, on the grounds that we still do not know for sure that either jab will confer sterilising immunity.

Not that I begrudge carers, but it’s a pity that it’s not been restored for CEV household too

Sockwomble · 04/01/2021 13:51

I think it is a recommendation but those that decide may not decide to go with it.

Same here for me too.

If they are only going to base it on those who receive Carers Allowance they will miss loads of carers. Not all carers are on CA.
