Leg pain as part of long covid

Charkk · 04/01/2021 11:22

Hello,
I had all covid symptoms in April, and it took a long long to recover, with lots of just running out of energy following (or during) any activity, breathlessness etc, but it's all manageable now, apart from intense pain in my lower legs, worse sometimes, better sometimes. Not joint related, doesn't feel muscular, just a really deep, frequently intense ache.
Anyone else had this?

Oh, I’m sorry to hear you’re not well. A physio friend suggested that a short course of neuropathic pain relief might help, so maybe it’s worth you talking to your GP? I haven’t been back to mine - there’s so much being learnt about this illness as we go along, I think. In part I’m wondering if there’s any indication that I should/ shouldn’t exercise while the pain is present but I can’t imagine you’re wanting to think about doing anything just now. I hope you feel better soon.

Charrkk....yes I have had this. Long Covid since march, but also doing much better recently.

In recent weeks (literally the last 4 weeks) my leg pain has pretty much gone. For me it is / was after exertion. So i would go for a 30-50 min gentle walk and then have very bad muscle pain in my legs, like flu pains but I would feel otherwise OK. Anyway for now it seems to have gone. I have not been doing anything very different really but have been taking the 'niacin stack' regime which I guess may have contributed. I have just started to be able to walk up some hills again (slowly) without it resulting to me being back in bed straight after!

This took me down an interesting rabbit hole re. niacin stack - thank you! Good luck with hills.
