builders merchants to close. so what if someone needs something for an emergency repair

Pure speculation. I can’t see them doing much of that as they didn’t in the first lockdown.

It would be extremely damaging to completely ban meet ups of 2 people outdoors regardless of who those people are, and if the choice between banning this and ending support bubbles has to be made it really should be support bubbles that are ended. The government needs to remember that being able to meet somebody in person is likely to be the only way that many of those at risk of abuse can raise any type of alarm as to what is happening and that many peoples relationships with those that they are living with have become strained over the past several months (as the abusers are likely to be listening in to any zoom or phone conversations held at home).

It’s all insanity if they keep the schools in! No one in my Tier 4 area is obeying the rules because they know that while schools are still open there is no point. Sadly this is the reality.

Tier 5 has to be closure of schools. There's not much left.
And if this new strain of the virus is as contagious as they say - then maybe face masks outside.
