Is your school closing? (And, what are the government playing at?!)

I'm in a conservative town (Tory council but also pretty conservative with a small c) and even here, 8 of the 27 local primaries so far have said they're going to close, with at least 3 more saying they'll take the decision tomorrow as they have an inset day.

I suspect more will announce closures by the end of the day.

AIBU to think this is a total shitshow?

I completely support the schools closing, the numbers of new cases are high and rising here. But why aren't the government taking charge and closing schools? It's nuts that schools are having to decide on an individual basis.

What's going on in your area? What tier are you and are schools closing? Has your council said anything?

And how can Boris have the barefaced cheek of insulting us all with his "schools are safe" mantra? It's not about whether the kids will get covid, it's about

Oops, hit send too soon!

That should say, it's (mostly) not about whether the kids get sick from getting covid, it's about them catching it and then spreading covid spreading in the community.
