Covid after-effects and Asthma

Hiya, just wondered if anyone has breathlessness on and off after Covid and found that it responded to inhalers (particularly steroid)? This after-effect is an issue for my DH, who had the virus earlier in the year, and is dragging on a bit. I had read somewhere people saying that Covid had caused them to develop asthma? - I know he had it as a child. Many thanks

@Stepintochristmas - thanks for replying and sorry you're still getting this too. Really hope you feel better soon 🌻

Yes. I was prescribed the steroid inhaler and it has helped.

@Stepintochristmas you should ask to try the steroid one. I believe they are also trialling it as a treatment for acute covid.

The blue inhaler wasn't giving me much relief back in the summer after having long covid for around 3 months, my shortness of breath was so bad it was waking me up for a puff several times in the night. I was prescribed a steroid inhaler at the beginning of September and I was back to breathing freely within 2 days. I started running again after 4 days and haven't looked back :)

@PlumsAreNotTheOnlyFruit and @lolliplop - thanks so much. So pleased to hear that asthma meds have made a difference to you both. That's brilliant!
Am keeping everything crossed that this may help. He's not used a preventer inhaler since he was a teenager but thought it could be worth a shot anyway. He's going to phone the GP on Monday 🙂. Take care

I think i had it in 2019, the only thing that helped me was the steroid inhaler. I'm still on it, it might be time to come off it but I'm unsure not seen a doctor in so long

I was asthmatic before but an increased dose of my steroid inhaler helped me. Just like op, the blue inhaler didn't help at all in either the acute or chronic stages of covid.
