So did we get a second delivery of the Pfizer jab then?

We were told that 800,000 had been delivered but that we would not receive more until February.

However, this morning it has been reported that we have vaccinated 1 million.

So have we had another Pfizer delivery ahead of schedule? How much did we receive? Why was this not reported widely?

I think it's because they had 800,000 x the 2 doses. Now that they are saying people will have second dose at 12 weeks not 3 weeks, they have freed up 800,000 doses, borrowing the second doses IYSWIM. Let's just hope that they get the second jabs in at 12 weeks and that they work having been delayed.

Yes, more deliveries have arrived. Once the first delivery took place, the second, third, fourth deliveries are not that newsworthy.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 02/01/2021 11:53

They had 800k single doses.
Then they had some more deliveries but didn’t make a song and dance about them because of security.
Then they said there wouldn’t be any more for a while.

Ah ok. Out of interest, when did they arrive, do you remember? I have been absolutely glued to the news and I totally missed it!

Despite them saying it wasn't being offered, my DM had her second jab today.

Flower2021 · 02/01/2021 12:01

And do you know how many doses were in the second delivery?

On the 8th December, GP online reported that second batch would arrive on "4th or 5th January."

I can't find a single report about a second batch arriving...

Wasn’t it meant to be anyone after 4th January won’t be getting their second dose as previously scheduled. I assume it would have been too difficult to reschedule over the Christmas period and get a whole new batch of people organised to come in with such short notice.

DM is due hers on 5th but still hasn’t heard anything yet.

A PP has already explained that there was no song and dance about it for security reasons.
Mousehole10 · 02/01/2021 12:07

It wasn’t reported in the news because of security risks. But there have been a number of deliveries now. Jabs still ongoing. There’s way more than 800,000 in the country.

Char2015 · 02/01/2021 12:20

We have received at least 4 million so far.

The 2nd jabs are being completed up to Jan 4, iirc. - it's the ones after that that are being cancelled.

If it wasn't reported in the news then how are people confidently declaring this as fact? What are your sources of information?

Char2015 · 02/01/2021 12:25

Just a small bit from Sky News just now:

Pfizer say there will be no supply issues of their jab

The drug manufacturer has confirmed there will be no supply issues of their vaccine, following concerns global demand would lead to shortages over the next few months.

The UK's chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty said shortages were likely to hamper the UK's efforts to protect the nation in the first part of 2021.
Meanwhile, the deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam said a lack of "fill and finish" supplies like glass vials could cause difficulties.

But Pfizer said "deliveries are on track" and that millions of doses had already been delivered to the UK.

A spokesperson, said: “The deliveries are on track and progressing according to our agreed schedule.”

Char2015 · 02/01/2021 12:26

Matt Hancock also gave a speech the other day, and at that time, said we have 3million more doses here in the UK.

There’s no source, I’m sorry. Some of us are close to the project and/or have vaccine with the new batch numbers in our freezers, that’s all.
