Heart palpitations, anxiety, Sore throat ? Covid?

I just want to prelude this to say I'm not someone that suffers from anxiety usually. I not Covid phobic, but I'm not socialising or going to big parties, but my kids have been at school. I also took them to soft play ( it's now shut we've gone into tier 4.)

Anyway over the last week I've had a anxiety feeling, some palpations and a sore throat. I'm a generally healthy, fit person, probably eat too many biscuits, but don't drink. I'm not overweight and do light exercise daily. I could put this down to the time of year, a bug or could it be THE bug covid. I'm guessing too late to test now as it's been a week or so. I don't feel run down, although DH has been home and experiencing some anxiety too. Is it catching ? Or just his attitude. Or maybe our house ?

Not official symptoms but I’d probably get a test to be on the safe side because of the sore throat. People will probably say that’s wrong and taking up a test though.

Indecisive12 · 01/01/2021 22:08

It doesn’t fit with my symptoms. The sore throat could be causing the anxiety which in turn could cause the palpitations.
I have palpitations but no anxiety and no sore throat and another 8 Covid symptoms.

pinkdinosaursarereal · 01/01/2021 22:34

@Indecisive12 have you tested positive then?? Sorry to hear you are unwell.

I had sth like this before Christmas, with stomach pains too. I've been reporting symptoms on the Zoe app and I was asked by the app to get a covid test. It came back negative.

Similar to you, kids in school but otherwise been really cautious. I guess there are other bugs circulating too still.

LongBlobson · 01/01/2021 22:40

(Around the same time DD got a headache and temperature and had a test, also negative.)

AndcalloffChristmas · 01/01/2021 22:43

I keep getting heart palpitations too but I’ve been having them for weeks, so i hope not COVID related as I wasn’t isolating at that point!

AndcalloffChristmas · 01/01/2021 22:44

(Oh i didn’t mention in my first replying that I’m isolating now because of fluey symptoms and changes to sense of taste. Have taken a test)

Indecisive12 · 01/01/2021 22:47

Yes I’m 7 weeks post positive test. The palpitations only come with my postural tachycardia and a whole other range of symptoms comes with them. Symptoms I had were loss of taste, loss of smell, cough, breathlessness, hoarse voice but no sore throat, aching limbs, back ache, fatigue, heartburn. With the palpitations I get tingling in my arms, mottled hands, dizziness, vertigo and breathlessness.

Katharinablum · 01/01/2021 23:00

I tested positive at the end of November and had weird episodes of palpitations/anxiety in the acute phase (first 10-14 days). I’ve read some research that cardiac symptoms can be common and first to present.

If covid is ruled out silent reflux can apparently feel like palpitations.

justasking111 · 01/01/2021 23:02

Wearing masks gives me a sore throat for the rest of the day every time, weird

I get palpitations with my reflux very tiresome
SeaToSki · 01/01/2021 23:05

Start taking full dose of magnesium every night before bed, it will help with the palpitations. Then try some tums during the day, you might have heart burn without noticing it. It can feel the same

pinkdinosaursarereal · 01/01/2021 23:08

@Katharinablum that's very interesting. My DH gets Covid tested twice a week at work normally, but has been off for Christmas so no testing the last week. I don't feel particularly stressed out and so palpations / anxiety are strange for me as I can't pin point a source. I have never had before ever, might just be this new life. DH seems to be very anxious too. It's not too much time together as he is not a spend time as a family person.

Meds for reflux can also cause palpitations and depression/anxiety among other unpleasant side effects.

Eating different richer foods, eating at different times, sodas, alcohol.

Nexium. I had depression so bad I was making a will, bleeding gums, muscle pain, my feet went numb and tingly and haven't recovered, exhaustion, anxiety, sore eyes and sinus pain. Those are what I can remember. The good thing was that I could eat anything I wanted. However having a constantly dry mouth spoiled it somewhat. I also thought I had Covid but it was the Nexium.

Pootle40 · 01/01/2021 23:32

It sounds like anxiety. You can get physical symptoms like sore throat / flu like symptoms caused by your own anxiety.

godhelpusall · 02/01/2021 21:06

Sorry to say but it sounds exactly like Covid. Weird anxious feeling - it's horrible. It is a symptom.

FairyFairy · 02/01/2021 21:15

Reflux could also explain a sore throat.

My reflux has been bad recently and I'm sure it's because of how stressful/unsettled life has been lately. In my case I think anxiety causes the palpitations and reflux rather than the other way around.

Yes, I was suffering palpitations and sore throats for months this year and the doctor tried me on lanzoprazole first incase it was silent reflux. That didn't help so he suspected anxiety. I went on anti depressants and the symptoms vanished.
user1460571583 · 02/01/2021 21:41

When my anxiety is bad I clench my jaw and that gives me a sore throat, I've spent many a day wondering if I'm going to have covid but it's just my anxiety flaring up.
