Hi is anyone involved in the vaccines? How is the roll out set out? Will we hear when to go and where to go from the gp ? Does anyone have any idea when it will be ( I'm 51) . Family are very anxious and it is now getting very hard to hold them up

I had been wondering the same.

Our local area has 2 hubs. You are given an appointment when you get to next batch in list.

I've had text from my surgery to say where my hub is and that first patients have been contacted to attend.

Molly333 · 01/01/2021 19:35

That's interesting . I'm in Colchester and as far as I know we havnt heard ?

If you're 51 and not clinically vulnerable them you're in the last priority group and I wouldn't expect to hear any time soon. There are 20 million or so people ahead of you in the queue.

Jessicabrassica · 01/01/2021 19:38

They're starting with over 80s, then over 70s. A friend in her 50s with underlying health conditions is expecting may/June.
Don't chase your GP. They have enough to do. Once your cohort comes to the top of the list they will contact you.

Fizzgigg · 01/01/2021 19:40

My GP has texted and emailed to say, basically, 'don't call us, we'll call you'. They're working through the priority list and will be in touch when our time comes (in the lowest priority group so won't be for some time!)

RuthW · 01/01/2021 19:46

I'm involved with the admin side in a gp surgery. We have contacted all our over 80s and most have already been vaccinated. The next lot of vaccines will be for the 79 year olds and those previously on the shielding list. We will contact you when you are eligible for the vaccine.

Vaccines are being given in certain surgeries only at the moment, but this may change. Our patients have to travel about 5 miles down the road to another local surgery to have it done.

orangetree99 · 01/01/2021 19:52

I've been wondering the same. DM is 90 and MIL is 80 and neither have heard anything. Both GPs just say don't contact us and they will be contacted when their turn. It concerns me when RuthW has said her GP practice has now vaccinated all over 80s and yet they haven't even got an appointment.

Purplethrow · 01/01/2021 19:56

My dad 88 had to travel from near Dartford in Kent to London for his jab. He was sent the appointment from his Gp on 19th December.

Frazzled2207 · 01/01/2021 19:57

@orangetree99
sadly at the moment I think it depends on your practice - my elderly uncle and aunt (80+) in Devon have had it but were told that only 7 gp surgeries in Devon have it thus far. Obviously you'd hope more to get it in January.

Molly333 · 01/01/2021 20:06

Thankyou everyone. I think what's a concern is not knowing and trusting it will actually go to plan

Here you go @Molly333

You'll get contacted, but it won't be soon...

LizzieMacQueen · 01/01/2021 20:33

I've just checked and it's saying Dec 2021 to Jan 2022 but last time I looked it was June 2021. Is that the same for everyone?

IrisPurple · 01/01/2021 20:40

Well our GP hub was the one which lost all the doses thanks to a power cut. Our hospital is in the last group to commence roll-out - our Pfizer doses arrive on Monday.

Not a single person in my town has had a vaccine. We're behind everyone and my parents (nearly 70) will wait longer than everyone else their age elsewhere in the country Sad

maggiso · 01/01/2021 20:47

Our GP sent out a text to say where the vaccination centre will be, but to wait until we are contacted.
