Symptom progression

I went for a test on the 27th and got a positive result back on the 28th. I was really shocked as I only had mild symptoms of a dry cough and chest pains but nothing else and don't feel flu like or have a fever.

My friend is a nurse and she told me that she had no symptoms when her test result was positive but that her symptoms kicked in with a vengeance after 5 days and she was very poorly after that.

I had hoped that I was going to be lucky and get away with a really mild infection, but now I'm worried.

I really need to know how your symptoms have progressed if you tested positive, and what your timeline was. Can I not relax until my 10 days of quarantine are up?

Day 1-7 mild, day 8-10 rough, day 11 onwards better. This seems a very common pattern.

@Iamsodonewith2020 sorry to hear that Sad It's a bloody awful virus, isnt it? Hopefully you'll start feeling better any day now.

@TiredyMcTired I am in exactly the same position as you. Tested on 27th and result 29th. Loss of appetite & slight cough only. DH received result on Christmas Day. DH has had nothing since his initial temperature that prompted his test & a slight cough. His isolation ends tomorrow.
I have also spoken to friends who have been fine until the second week. Feels like such a waiting game - yet also hoping to be another super mild case!
OP how are you feeling today?

Morning!
Thanks for all the replies, it's amazing how much the symptoms and timeline vary! I'm now 6 days after the dry cough appeared and 4 days after my test came back positive. I wake up each day wondering if I'll suddenly feel worse... this morning I tried to do a bit of laundry but ended up coughing and a bit wheezy so had to stop. Other side bit of a sore throat and tired but that's it.

For those of you who are struggling, sending big unmumsnetty hugs and Thanks
