Will they fine parents who keep their DC off school now?

I wonder whether this could be part of the announcement today - primaries open (and secondaries open soon) but it will be parental choice whether to send or not (ie no fines issued)?

I assuming there will be fines but I won't be sending primary schoold DS back regardless. I will keep him off on the basis that either primary schools will continue to have low transmission and I will feel more comfortable in him attending or they won't and cases will continue to rise and they will shut.

Not sure how much fines are - I suppose I better look into it in case we get one.

Schools won’t have the admin capacity to do fines!

Attendance is logged on the MIS so it's very easy to get this info. It'll be the local authority who would presumably pursue any fines though, on the advice of the school's welfare officer.

I am not British and find this fine thing v odd. DS is 16 and has been in isolation twice this year, DH is vulnerable. DS works effectively at home and I would like him to be home until rates decrease. I do not see why he should be fined.
