No sense of taste - negative test but been isolating

I lost my sense of taste on Christmas Eve. Had a test. Results Boxing Day, negative. I also had access to a rapid flow test from a medic friend who left it on the doorstep and that was also negative.

Since then have been a bit hot and snotty. Now DP has come down with the snotty nose.

The only thing is we have hardly been anywhere. Where do you think is the most likely place I got it? I'm ECV and would like to know so I don't catch covid!

I accept it isn't covid though I am not seeing anybody in case the tests are wrong. are common colds easier to catch?

We have a dog who we walk and we do chat to people at a distance. Groceries delivered. Had a plumber over but we ldidn't see him - he went in the front room and I handed cash to him at arm's length at his van.

I sat around a chiminea with five people (tier 2) but I was seven feet clear of them either side of me!

No kids.

Any ideas?! Is it people stroking my dog on walks?! Or an airborne cold?!

Other viruses can cause the same symptoms

Something else that can get into your sinuses.
I'm convinced that the cold weather somehow causes flare ups of some germ I normally carry to give me swollen sinuses most winters.

But your both negative on two tests. You have something else. You didn't get it anywhere

No sorry I mean am keen to know where I got a virus from. So I can avoid covid.
