Cannot cope with DH any longer - but am trapped due to tier 4

DH and I have not been getting along and have been barely tolerating each other for months now, but the horrendous Christmas we’ve just had has made things even more strained. With our relationship in the state that it is, I was really looking forward to Christmas with other people, so the last minute change to the rules was a terrible kick in the teeth.

Anyway, I just feel totally trapped with him in our small flat, with nowhere to go to or escape due to living in a tier 4 area.

I need to get away from him for a week to save my sanity so my question is, how can I do that - is there anywhere I can go? Can I travel to a tier 1 or 2 area for a week and stay in an Airbnb for example so I can get away from him and catch a break? Or am I trapped in our home until restrictions ease?

Staying with family is not an option. Thanks.

I think you could definitely argue that a relationship breakdown is a reasonable excuse to stay overnight away from home to be honest but I would keep it as local as possible to stop it looking like you were taking the piss.

You are not trapped no one will stop you leaving your area and you are permitted to leave for reasons such as this anyway. Just find somewhere quiet you can get away to and book it, just take precautions when you are there.

Anyone? I just feel so alone

I thought that relationship breakdowns came under the conditions that you can break lockdown for.

Life's too short to be miserable.

MorningTeas · 28/12/2020 21:46

Yes you can go, no one is trapped, please go and have a break.

Yes don't feel as though you have to stay there. If money is not an issue book a hotel. You can say it's for exceptional circumstances or just business if you prefer. What area are you in?
