Are unpaid carers being offered the vaccine?

Has there been any mention of unpaid carers being offered the vaccine like they get offered the flu jab yearly?

I hope we will although I doubt it. We care for three disabled children and had huge difficulties getting the flu vaccine this year. But if we fall ill, God forbid, who looks after our kids and their special needs?

does anyone roughly know when we are due the jab. I really worry about catching it as there is noone else to look after my disabled child if I am ill.

Using the omni calculator it puts group 6 at the end of March for first vaccination, but that is a general guess really, it depends on how many they can deliver and uptake etc.

How will NHS know if someone is an unpaid carer?

They register with their gp, who will confirm with the person's needing care gp. Also they are probably claimg carers allowance.

@Haffiana I’m an unpaid carer, it’s noted in my GP records. Any unpaid carer should contact their GP surgery to ha e it noted, it also entities you to a free flu vaccination every year.

I am registered as a carer with my surgery. Many get carers allowance but not all (not me either) so I guess we will have to rely on the GP register!
