Wonders of test and trace system

DH was told on 22 Dec that he’d tested positive and DD and I received stern messages through the NHS app telling us to isolate till midnight on the 31st. Then DH was phoned and he gave them both mine and DD’s contact details. DD received an email and a text saying isolation ends on 29th Dec but I’ve had nothing. Should I still be obeying what the app tells me as that’s the only communication I’ve had?

Of course you should. If you live together and someone tests positive, the whole family isolates.

latti · 28/12/2020 02:42

Yes of course 🙄

td89 · 28/12/2020 02:53

You should definitely be isolating. I tested positive last week and was told that any close contacts (DH and DS) isolation period starts from the date of my test. So I was tested on the 19th and isolation ends at midnight tonight.

AlandAnna · 28/12/2020 06:41

It’s 10 days from the onset of your DH symptoms for both of you - so go on that. T&T have a few issues....

Lifeispassingby · 28/12/2020 06:53

I was a contact with someone 15he’s before their symptoms, the told me when they had a test and I was careful amongst others whilst waiting for the result (had been but even more so) when they got the positive result I isolated for 14days (it’s was 14 then) despite test and trace not contacting me and I don’t have the app as it can’t download on my phone. You know the rules just follow them

baremineral · 28/12/2020 07:03

I don't think the isolation period is what the OP is questioning here, but more when it ends with her DD having another email to say it's ends earlier than expected from the original information given.

With it being through track and trace, I'd just stick to your original message OP. They have checked up on people, so if you don't have information telling you to isolate until 29th then I would just isolate until 31st as directed.

Well I'm glad the app is doing something for someone- I tested positive last week and according to DH's app he's still a free man 😒.
We have definitely been close enough to trigger it!

Lifeispassingby · 28/12/2020 07:43

When did DHs symptoms start? Go for 19days from then, but if in doubt go for the longer date if you can it’s only a couple of days more

Lifeispassingby · 28/12/2020 07:49

10days not 19!!

ChristmasCovid · 28/12/2020 08:30

Yes you’re a household contact, your dh will have verbally agreed to take responsibility to notify you of the need to isolate.

MirandaWest · 28/12/2020 08:33

When did your DHs symptoms start?

I think the app may have told you from when his positive test was but his symptoms started sooner?

PurplePlain · 28/12/2020 08:46

What Lifeispassingby said. If he had symptoms 10 days from that, if no symptoms 10 days from positive test. Perhaps he gave the caller more information than the app and they made a decision based on that.

MaryLeeOnHigh · 28/12/2020 10:05

Bizarre that people read my message as questioning whether I should be isolating. Of course I should be, and I am. What I'm trying to work out is when the isolation period ends. The date DH gave the test and trace person for the onset of symptoms was the same as the one he gave when he applied for the test.

I'm also puzzled that they've managed to give DD the new date, but not me, despite having both email and text contact details for me. If they expect DH to let me know, why wouldn't the same apply to DD, given that we all live in the same house?

We had this too OP, two different dates given for isolation when dd tested positive. First person said until 26 Dec and the second person said 28 Dec. We went with 28 because it was 10 days after onset of symptoms
