Talking to a friend over whatsapp. He mentioned schools may close january which I havent heard. He said the whole thing is crazy and people just need to get on with it. I said it is crazy, ive got kids at school and we were very lucky not to have had to isolate over xmas.

His quote 'Its really not that bad, people arnt dying, they only know they have it becuase of a test not cos of symptoms' and he said the death rates are no worse than last year.
Then hes said we need something to cut the population down!
Made me angry!

They only know they have it because of a test? Tell that to the staff on the overflowing wards and the London Ambulance Service answering as many 999 calls now as at the peak in April.

Your friend is an idiot.

Coriandersucks · 27/12/2020 21:27

Another conspiracy theory thread...jolly good Hmm

Our local hospital in Essex had to administer oxygen in its ambulances in the rain last night as they couldn't get into the actual hospital with their patients It's bad out there.

He sounds disappointed a lot more haven't died.

Babyroobs · 27/12/2020 21:36

I don't know what is wrong with some people. I'm reading reports of not enough staff, hospitals overwhelmed and ambulances waiting six hours to get covid patients into hospital. Mean while in other parts of the country people are going sales shopping. Some people are so stupid.

cactusdog · 27/12/2020 21:37

I think he's mainly right, except for his horrible last comment which is nasty and uncalled for. I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who thought like that, if he was being serious and not "joking".

WhenSheWasBad · 27/12/2020 21:37

Sorry mylife I know someone similar when it comes to “the population needs reducing”
He’s a very practical man, I honestly think he forgets it’s all about individual people.

My son needed oxygen for a non Covid related reason recently. So glad there was capacity for him, that might not be true in a few weeks time.

TroubadorinTrouble · 27/12/2020 21:38

I expect he’d be quite happy to volunteer himself or members of his family to “cut down the population”?

No, thought not.

BlackCatShadow · 27/12/2020 21:43

I'm sure he'd feel very differently if someone he was close to was in hospital and seriously ill with it. People can be so selfish.

MyLifeNow20 · 27/12/2020 21:49

He is a funeral director and said everythig is now written off as covid and they dont need a post mortem.

Suggest that he should volunteer!
TroubadorinTrouble · 27/12/2020 21:53

I expect being a funeral director gives you a fairly dark sense of humour. However, not sure I’d want him burying any of my relatives.

x2boys · 27/12/2020 22:33

There,s lots of people with similar attitudes ,you can't argue with stupid .

SabrinaTheMiddleAgedBitch · 27/12/2020 22:59

My DH is a funeral director and during March/April he was completely mentally and emotionally overwhelmed by the sheet volume of bodies that were coming into his care. I find it very odd that someone in that job could think covid is 'not that bad'

PuzzledObserver · 28/12/2020 08:59

What does he think people are dying from, if not Covid?

Why does he think deaths are again above average, if not Covid?

Katie517 · 28/12/2020 09:20

Believe it or not people are entitled to form a different opinion to you and this doesn’t make them a conspiracy theorist. His last comment was uncalled for but he makes valid points in the rest of his statement. The thing is none of us know the truth we only know what our information source of choice chooses to tell us. But critical thinking is never a bad thing especially when we have so much at stake and so much of our life and livelihoods being stripped away.

Coriandersucks · 28/12/2020 15:58

Everything? So if someone came in with a load of stab wounds and a bullet wound they wouldn’t bother doing a post mortem and just put it down to Covid?
