Can I travel into a tier 3 from 2 to get food shopping?

Sorry if I’m being thick but the rules confuse me and until now our area has been tier 2.

I’m still in tier 2 but live right in the boarder to a tier 3, I usually do my food shopping in the tier 3 as it’s closer than and big supermarket in my county (I live rural), I also work in tier 3 and dd goes to school in tier 3.

I have been told we can only travel to tier 3 for work or education (not to get food shopping), is this true? So now to go to a reasonable supermarket I have to travel 45 minutes? If I need to buy clothes or shoes for dc’s I have to drive an hour to the nearest clothes shops rather than 15 minutes to the ones in tier 3?

Just go to your closest one. It would be crazy to travel a longer distance just to keep in your own tier

You can travel through tiers for shopping or work things that you will need to do.

Exactly, seems crazy to travel twice as far. I have a local small supermarket in my tier but I can’t get everything I need there, I will use them as much as possible.

No one is going to know or check. Just go to the nearest one. The whole point of the tiers is really to stop people travelling about so much and mixing.

sounds logical op, if you work there and your dc go to school there.

I have a feeling in a week or so we will be in tier 3 too so it won’t make much difference where I go, at the moment it’s a bit confusing as my county borders tier 3 and tier 4 areas so I feel like I’m stuck in my county or I will be accused of mixing with the tier 3/4’s 🤣.

I work 3 miles away from my house but it’s in tier 3. Dd goes to school in a area that’s likely to go into tier 4 soon.

Yes, but you need to burn your clothes when you get back home. Grin
