I have a night away booked at Easter (in the UK) it’s by the coast and I’m so hoping it goes ahead. I just feel so worried that 2020 is going to be a repeat of 2021 and holidays/breaks away won’t be permitted until summer.
What do people think?

Honestly, I think a safe bet is summer and beyond but depending on where you live and location of your booking you might get lucky. If you're going from a high virus area to low virus area, be careful. You might not be welcome.

Happy Christmas! There is definitely hope 🙂 and I think your chances within the UK are better than going overseas, but Easter is possibly a bit optimistic. I expect a weekend away at the end of September much more likely - by then, unless the virus has mutated significantly, we should have caught up with vaccination of most adults in the country. As vaccination becomes more widespread, we should see the R drop and overall the level of infection should be controlled. If the virus mutates and evades the vaccine AND if that new variant somehow becomes widespread, there will be an impact as we will have to tweak the vaccines and revaccinate people, which would slow things down a lot.

So - stay hopeful, but don't get too excited about Easter just yet.

Thanks for your replies. I was hoping if they’d vaccinated all the vulnerable and elderly by Easter things might be a bit more normal. Not completely, but getting there, so I hope a night away is possible by then.
