Just tested positive on Christmas Eve

Just got the dreaded text message. My question is should I be isolating from my household or should we carry on as we have been. I have been isolating for 5 days after contact with positive teacher at school anyway. Would like to add how pushed off I am at Gavin too as he should have bloody closed schools the week before Christmas. My much needed break will now have been spent either isolating or ill with covid. Every staff member in my large bubble has tested positive over the past 4 days.

Sorry to hear that. Yes re Gav. So what date does yr isolation end - or does it restart from yr test/symptoms start date, I never understand the overlapping situation and from what I hear T&T aren't completely consistent on it either?

Hope you remain feeling well.

Technically you should isolate. How possible is that/anyone vulnerable? How stricken would you/ family be if you shut yourself upstairs?

Your username is rather appropriate! 💐 🎄

I think I'd go for a half way approach - join downstairs for presents with a mask and social distancing if possible. Isolate til dinner, join for dinner? Then back to hiding out in your room?

That's assuming that it's your household only tomorrow! If not you'll have to stay home while the others go wherever they're going.

Pissed off that should read!

Me too, got my message a little while ago, I have to isolate until 23:59 on 31st so they've put my start date as 21st December, I have had lots of contact with my household since then, so I won't be isolating from them, as chance are they have it too by now

They all have to isolate now.

FancySomeChips · 24/12/2020 23:59

Sympathies.... I have had contact with 3 positive cases so after each one was confirmed my isolation has got longer and longer. Monday will be day 14 and my last day till freedom on Tuesday.
Thank goodness!!!!

Jenifirtree · 25/12/2020 00:06

We are the same here. Fucked off that i must have caught it on the last day of school. Symptoms started on sunday, but not the main three that get you a test. Got tested on tuesday after reading same symptoms on a mumsnet thread. Ive had five emails and 13 texts from test and trace. I have been given three different dates to end isolation Hmm

Poorlykitten · 25/12/2020 00:12

@Jenifirtree what were your symptoms? I am wondering whether I should get tested but have none of the major ones....

IveNameChangedAgain2020 · 25/12/2020 00:16

Sorry to hijack your thread OP but can I ask when you went for your test and got your results? I took my son this morning and was wondering when we might be likely his.
@Jenifirtree what were your symptoms? I am wondering whether I should get tested but have none of the major ones....
Day 1 sore throat and headache. Neither unusual for me at the end of term
Day 2: sore throat, headache, occasional cough, bit of a sore chest.
Day 3 was the test day and i was tempted not to bother as just felt like a cold. But had test as 10am and then that afternoon i fell asleep sat up on the sofa. The headache ramped up massively too. Painful headache.

Jenifirtree · 25/12/2020 00:21

Aince then ivd had runny nose, there was blood on the test stick from my nose, nose bleed is also mentioned on the tracking form as a symptom. ANd ive had a few other symptoms that aRe listed on the nhs tracker form.

Jenifirtree · 25/12/2020 00:23

Lost my sense of smell on day 4.

Iamsodonewith2020 · 25/12/2020 06:53

Oh wow! That was quick! I tested at 11am yesterday but not heard anything as of yet. Confined to my room for Christmas Day - but at least it means dh is in charge of Christmas dinner 👍 (To be fair to him, he usually does quite a lot of it anyway - he's a good cook)

Piggyinblankets · 25/12/2020 13:26

Pushed off works as well. He should be pushed off somewhere very very far away.

Hope you are OK OP Flowers

IveNameChangedAgain2020 · 25/12/2020 21:09

@Iamsodonewith2020 that is SO quick! We've not received test results yet ☹️
