Where are the community lateral flow tests in Greater Manchester?

It seems that pretty much every other city/region in the country that has been allocated the lateral flow tests have rolled them out to the community.

The government has sent these tests to GM with the intention that anyone in the community who is asymptomatic can access them.

Is it true that GM have funnelled these tests across to care homes? Where they are not supposed to be used?

There is no information available online about the community roll out. Someone must know what’s happening??

I just noticed a post on another thread that talked about all tier 3 areas having access to mass community testing. Not in the Manchester boroughs!

(Merry Christmas!)

Not in Warrington either. But neighbouring Halton does have them.

The Gov.UK site now has daily information on LFTs carried out in each area although it doesn't say how they're being used (care homes or wider community).

Latti - i'm not familiar with specific Manchester areas but hopefully this links through to Warrington stats for Darcey if you scroll down a bit. coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/testing?areaType=ltla&areaName=Warrington

Shows that the LFTs are out there somewhere. I only found out yesterday that my borough has been offering these for the past week so but in one specific venue. I think some council's like mine either just aren't good at communication or are minimising who knows about them.

Still no sign of a lateral flow rolllout to Greater Manchester citizens, this is a disgrace.

From the link: Priority groups are likely to include: care homes, health and social care staff and school staff.

The first phase of it has started with Care Homes with a view to rolling out to more priority groups early in the New Year.

Wow. So Manchester is not using these tests how they should be. They are for the community to use and access. Asymptomatic members of the community should be able to go to a testing hub and have a test. Not reserved for care homes and schools - who, by the way, are getting other batches of tests sent to them. That is not what these tests are for!!

This is absolutely unbelievable. Although given Burnham’s previous antics I am sadly not surprised.

They pointless test, you are missing out on nothing.

latti · 27/12/2020 15:58

Well, they’re not pointless tests.

And if a council is misusing their allocation that that isn’t right.

Of course they are pointless , they miss 51% of positive cases, you may as well toss a coin.
