Travelling abroad in Tier 4

I need to go and visit a close family member who lives abroad. The country they live in is still accepting UK residents with a negative test. I would really like to see them, they are not in a great place emotionally and I don't know when I will next see any family members (has been 2years since I've seen any as they live in Australia). Any advice i can find about travelling abroad when living in Tier 4 is quite vague, i.e. 'limited exceptions, including work reasons' but I can't find any other info on what the limited exceptions are. I am willing to isolate before I go and can also get a test on arrival. Any ideas?

Unless for work or to visit someone with a serious medical condition our who is dying, it's illegal, sorry. Just wanting to see them or them being "not in a good place" doesn't count I'm afraid. Tier 4 is a stay at home order, you may not leave your home except for certain legally defined exceptions. How likely you are to be found out or stopped is another matter.
