I lost my lovely mum 😔

So did I. Suddenly and unexpectedly just 3 months ago.

Sorry for your loss

*I'll preface this by saying I know I'm extremely lucky in that no one I know has had COVID, I've lost no one thankfully and both me and DH have kept our jobs (despite both being furloughed - me for 9 months and counting, DH for 3 months). I'm very aware of how lucky I am and just how horrendous this year has been for many, many people - including some of my best friends and colleagues.

So just from my own experience of 2020...

Quiet quality time with family.

Finished PhD in lockdown.

Garden looked gorgeous. Purse empty

Unexpected; unprecedented; total change of plans; survived; now comfortably settled...

The worst is yet to come.

In five words - Worst year of my life

The longer version - my sister died of cancer, my family was ripped apart in the aftermath, I had a bit of a journey of self discovery as I sat in my bedroom for 8 hours a day working on a job i detested, I have been able to get a new job I love, I've been able to spend a lot more time with my kids, I've got to a Good place with money and I haven't drunk nearly as much alcohol as I kind of wish I had now.

Shit.

Got opportunity of a lifetime

So thankful for it.

To be honest it started as a relief. Getting off the treadmill and finding quiet peace and sanctuary. Now the sanctuary is becoming a prison.

Worse things happened than covid.

Awful year for me and my family, nothing to do with covid. Very ill child in hospital , extremely stressful teen problems, money worries, I could go on.
