What would happen to an European lorry driver if he tested positive?

France won’t let freight through without a negative test of the driver. So what if the driver tests positive and is hundreds of miles from home? Does macron expect the driver to self isolate in his truck?
And is macron doing the same with any freight from Belgium and Italy where it’s been confirmed they have the same strain? Is he expecting those drivers to have a negative test before they enter France too?

They're going to be using the lateral flow tests - very unlikely to find any one positive with those.

I read somewhere that they will be put into hotels.

Poor souls probably been pretty much self-isolated in their cabs for the best part of a week regardless by the time they get home. So much ridiculous point scoring while normal people trying to keep life moving bear the damage.

In the context of the Dover situation the driver will be tested on the UK side of the Channel, so to some extent what happens to somebody testing positive is down to the UK authorities...

TBF testing in the UK prior to departing the UK isn't something the French just invented, it's been going on for passengers and crew leaving the UK by air for certain foreign destinations for quite a while now, and it has left a few people unable to travel.

Yes, I read drivers with positive tests will be housed in hotels. I hope the government have identified suitable quarantine hotels with adequate supply of essential food and supplies so drivers don't leave these hotels and that these hotels will be for this sole use, and that there are plenty of them. It is not a system the UK have used since those first flights back from Wuhan in March, although most other countries do use this system. But it takes money, staff and monitoring... Plus where does the truck go and how do they secure the truck contents, what if the truck contains perishables....
