What are the symptoms in kids ? Worried

Hello!

My son is 4’and a half. He has woken with what looks to be pink eye , blocked / congested with a cough ( which has had on and off for weeks but we thought it had gone ) and sounds breathless when he’s talking . He went to bed last night fine .... no fever .... no sickness .... did complain of a ear
Ache yesterday ... just worried as I’ve heard the ‘ new ‘ strain is getting more kids

My daughter had a slight cough, a stuff led up nose and a sore throat. She was fine and had a very mild illness.

My friends kids had runny noses only. Cold symptoms for thr one confirmed child at my school

Many kids have no symptoms op. Could just be an ear infection. Call your GP your son might need abtiBs.

Hi my son (same age) had v similar symptoms to yours a few weeks ago and tested negative. I was quite surprised. Get a test if you can (NB the test site recommend swabbing both nostrils rather than nostril plus throat so he wasn’t sick)

I'd book a test, in the meantime call your GP first thing to try get advice incase he needs antibiotics like a pp said.

@Glitterzzz I would call NHS 24 just incase due to the breathlessness and waking up with the red eye.
There could be many many reasons for his symptoms but kawasaki disease which is extremely rare has been associated with covid in children.

Be on the safe side and call.

Mine had a cough, temperature and headache. In the couple of days before he was complaining of a headache. He had very mild symptoms and was over it within a couple of days.

One of mine had a sore throat and watery eyes. The other lost smell and taste and had sore throat. After going through it the last week I would say just book a test.
