This has been a crap time for DP to be diagnosed with cancer

On top of everything going on with COVID DP has been told his cancer is terminal but he is starting chemo on Christmas Eve to help manage his symptoms and buy time (hopefully). Today the hospital called to try cancel the blood tests he needs prior to treatment starting as they have gone into Local Covid State 5 (not to be confused with tier levels) but have agreed to do them as without them he can't start.

Please keep your fingers crossed he can start on Christmas Eve?

This is an awful time even if everything around you is relatively stable never mind massive life changing events going on in the midst of all this.

I’m so sorry to read this. We too have experienced cancer (pre Covid). I’ll be keeping everything crossed for you.

If its any consolation our local hospital cancer unit has carried on treatment for patients. X

will cross everything for you both. Re the hospital, dont be afraid to be a bit of a velvet bulldozer (polite but unstoppable) to get him what he needs. They are busy but this wont wait.

Everything's crossed for you over here, my best wishes to you, hubs and family. Agree totally with @Porcupineinwaiting, this is a shit time for so many and hospitals are struggling but do advocate for DH's health and get him the care and treatment he needs.

@bloodywhitecat I've followed you since your post when you were scared because he had turned yellow. I'm so sorry that your fears have been realised. I'm a bag of nerves because three weeks ago my DH had some worrying news about his biopsies. We were told months ago that he had these growths but they didn't have a look of cancer. Eventually someone decided he needed a biopsy and some dodgy cells were found. We were told he needed surgery within six weeks. It's booked for tomorrow, but we are in the worst Covid area and in the news it says that hospitals have no beds. I'm dreading the phone going and cancelling. My DH looks dreadful, thin and pale and is clearly very unwell. I'm a wreck. I'm thinking of you and DP. It really couldn't be a worst time. Found out this week that my uncle is terminal too.

My DF was hospitalised and diagnosed with cancer a few days before the March lockdown, it was shit. They sent him home, straight into lockdown and basically just left him to it. Nothing was done, tests were all pushed back/put off. So he just sat at home taking steroids the entire lockdown wondering how bad it was gonna be!

I'm in the hospice with mine now. Covid has made this whole situation so cruel and horrendous. I really hope your DP gets his treatment okay.

Mine was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in March right as Covid kicked off and he's now at end of life. I am allowed to stay with him in the hospice but cannot leave the room or come and go on the same day. He had an A&E admission four weeks ago when I wasn't allowed with him and he was so scared. I've promised not to leave him now and I won't, but it is so bloody isolated and bleak in here. Visitors are strictly limited as is anything that might make the stay a bit easier, such as getting my bloody laundry done!

Anyway, I hope you get to enjoy your Christmas together as much as you can and that things improve enough for you to have some lovely times. Sending much love to you both.

Thank you all, I just need to get the thoughts out as I don't want to scare or worry him. Real life support is crap right now and places like MN can be a godsend at the moment.
