DH gran was in hospital last week. Came out Thursday afternoon. Yesterday said she didn't feel well and was going to get a test.
Today decided that she feels better - just got a cough! So no test needed.
She is 91 and been in hospital 3 times in a month.

Should we convince them to test her? I guess it makes little difference apart from she intends to go to her sons for xmas day. Her son doesn't really care about the virus either so will happily have her.
I do despair!

Oh should have said it makes no difference as she never leaves the house. Not that it is okay for her to go about her business.

Just not sure if it will help with potential hospital admissions if they know in advance she has had a positive.

If she has a new cough she needs to be tested. Particularly if she plans to spend Christmas with someone else.

Definitely new but MIL is her carer and isn't bothering to push the issue at all. She lives with her mum so would have to isolate with a positive result so is likely to try and avoid that.

Is it a new, persistent cough?

Cannot say for sure it is persistent but is definitley new. DH has spoken to MIL a couple times today and heard her coughing in the background both times.
