Should my 15 year old visit her dad at Christmas?

Hi, just looking for your thoughts. I live 150 miles away from my daughter's dad...I'm in England, he lives in Scotland.

We had arranged for our daughter (who lives with me) to visit her dad from 27th December to 3rd January. She has spent the last 2 Christmas Days with him and wants to spend this one with me.

Today she told me that she doesn't want to go to Dad's for Christmas because of all the new regulations and Covid is on the rise again. It's unlikely that she will be able to visit until the February half term because she is so busy with GCSEs.

Her dad is so looking forward to seeing her..I don't know what to do. He lives on his own but he will probably be seeing other family during the visit...I don't know but I know he was doing this earlier on this year.

What do I do?

She's 15 so as long as she realises the consequences you should support her decision (both in this particular case and more generally as to when she wants to go and not go).

Thanks for your input! My daughter and I have agreed..she goes this time but she decides in future as she's nearly 16. We also talked about the Covid rules and she is taking masks and hand gel. Will be nothing to do up there except for staying in, reading and watching TV anyway.
