Don’t blame them. Who’s next?

OP posts:
Em777 · 20/12/2020 12:52

Everybody.

ramblingsonthego · 20/12/2020 12:53

We need to start banning flights from everywhere. Thats what needs to be next.

ElephantWhaleRabbit · 20/12/2020 12:54

Right decision.

custardbear · 20/12/2020 12:55

Yep, we've got as high numbers per capita as USA - I personally think stop travel on and out of uk and other countries with massive infection numbers

custardbear · 20/12/2020 12:55

*deaths

Bagelsandbrie · 20/12/2020 12:56

All flights everywhere should be banned. That’s what we should have done from the beginning.

Agree.
BlackeyedSusan · 20/12/2020 13:02

good. we need to keep it in and in as small an area as possible to have any chance of getting on top of it.

Completely agree

Ah but if we did that, the Tories wouldn’t be able to fly their minions in and out to their tax havens.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/12/2020 14:14

Pretty much everywhere. But it’ll be interesting to see which countries have learnt the lessons of Jan/Feb.

Absolutely agree. First lockdown and we still let flights in from everywhere, complete madness.
BlackForestCake · 20/12/2020 14:25

And when people arrived there was no testing and no tracing.

tiinab · 20/12/2020 14:28

I don't believe in the whole ban on flights. Just wondering why uk doesn't do like a lot of other countries that a part of entry/exit requirement is a negative covid test within 48h? That would help a lot and also give people peace of mind while they have to travel for work/family reasons.
No issues with it to be privately paid as nhs doesn't need to pay for this.

notimagain · 20/12/2020 14:33

We need to start banning flights from everywhere.

Well given even now some Long Haul passenger flights are currently bringing into the UK 20 or 30 tonnes of PPE from the Far East per arrival as belly cargo I'm not sure a complete ban is the best idea......

Agree.

There is enough technology to allow business meetings to happen so no need to keep open for business travel.

I think a lot more will follow and that’s sensible. So many feel entitled to a holiday still despite tier 4 etc.

Dannn · 20/12/2020 15:13

Austria added now and France in talks to do the same.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 20/12/2020 15:21

I said on a thread back in February that we should close the airports.

The overall response was "Don't be so fucking ridiculous, what about all the Brits who are on holiday in europe"

I can tell you that there are 1000s of people from other countries who should have left but cannot because their countries closed the airports. The only flights are repatriation flights with compulsory quarantine in hotels at the other end.

This is what the UK should have done. And it's what we should do now.

Anyone stupid enough to go on holiday abroad during a pandemic... etc.

Isthatitnow · 20/12/2020 15:44

So what does this mean for food and medical supplies?

JingsMahBucket · 20/12/2020 21:00

@Dannn

I have this feeling that France may wait to close airspace because contrary to what so many people think of France, they’re actually trying really hard to not kick off a culture war again.
Helgathehairy · 20/12/2020 21:14

Ireland are banning flights from Midnight tonight so BA are trying to get permission to lay on an extra flight to carry the 500/600 people at Heathrow trying to get home!

Thismustbelove · 20/12/2020 21:15

Ireland banning UK flights from midnight.

If course with NI this is incredibly hard. Many ambulances from ROI now trying to help out NI.

The one time we had anything resembling a lockdown, we had flights coming in unchecked every day.

We haven't once secured our borders.

Ireland’s 48 hour ban Witt plan to review on Tuesday www.rte.ie/news/2020/1220/1185542-covid-19/
