My 6 year old daughter was told to isolate on Friday because a teacher in her class was positive. However daughter has developed symptoms now and is going for a test early this morning. My question is.

IF her test is negative. Does she still have to isolate because of the teacher. Im pretty clued up on the rules however I can't seem to find information about this situation. I'd happily keep her home but then can one of the parents go back to work do a food shop ect.

Im praying its negative the idea of covid being all in our systems and around the house......

Yes, she would have to continue her isolation for the full ten dayes if the test comes back negative.

I believe it's a 10 day isolation period, even with a negative test.

She needs to isolate up to the date the school said. In the same situation as you with my daughter. She's come back negative. Here's a copy of what they advise in the email.

She's the one isolating, not the adults. Although because of her age obviously she needs an adult with her.... but the other adult can go out and about as normal. And the adult with her can swap with the other adult so they both go out separately.

She still has to complete her isolation period.

If she gets a negative test, but continues to have symptoms, then she should probably have another test a few days later (7 days after the last contact with the positive case is the rev where I am).

Fingers crossed 🤞

You can do those things already OP. Only the contact has to isolate. Everyone else can carry on.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/12/2020 06:51

The OP can’t carry on because the daughter is now symptomatic. The whole household needs to self isolate until the daughter has a negative test result.

Yes! As soon as someone in the house has symptoms everyone isolates.

If she didn't have symptoms then the adults are allowed out but she does so tier aren't.

If she tests negative, the adults can go out bit she still completes her 10 days.
