So like many others we’ve been plunged into tier 4.

Sister is in tier 2 and getting married on 28th.
Gutted.
This year is absolute shit.

I’m sorry, I’d be absolutely gutted too.

AnneLovesGilbert · 19/12/2020 21:42

Is it definitely going ahead?

ILoveMyMonkey · 19/12/2020 21:43

@AnneLovesGilbert I presume so. They’re in tier 2 so there’s no reason for it to be cancelled and as it’s all paid for I presume they can’t reschedule it.

@SassenachWitch
Thank you. It’s just another massive let down this year.

Does this help at all?

Going to miss sisters wedding 😭
Butterymuffin · 19/12/2020 21:45

I am really sorry @ILoveMyMonkey. That's the worst luck. Flowers

User43210 · 19/12/2020 21:46

Not sure it does actually as it says no weddings 😔 sorry if that's the case

Oreservoir · 19/12/2020 21:48

Pretty sure it's allowed to cross tiers for a wedding.
My dd is getting married next week and I will definitely be crossing tiers for the 15 minute ceremony!

ILoveMyMonkey · 19/12/2020 21:49

@User43210
Thank you, I did see that but took it to mean that we can only attend if it’s a deathbed wedding (which thank the lord for small mercies it is not).

@Butterymuffin. Thank you

@Oreservoir unfortunately it’s across the country so we were staying in a hotel for the night. Without staying over there’s just no way now.

I hope your DD has a wonderful day.

I'm going by this.

Going to miss sisters wedding 😭
Toddlerteaplease · 19/12/2020 21:55

That's shit, op. My sister was getting married on 5th January. Fortunately they decided a couple of weeks ago to post pone till next year.

Oreservoir · 19/12/2020 21:57

Oh I'm so sorry. That's awful for you.
Thank you.

We will have a very short day as we can't even eat together but hopefully in another year things will change and we can all celebrate properly. You with your dsis and me with dd.

Ginogineli · 19/12/2020 23:28

Guidance days you can go to weddings in another tier and you can stay over the purpose of doing so.

regardless why would you consider missing your sisters wedding?

Ginogineli · 19/12/2020 23:29

the death bed wedding part refers to weddings taking place within tier 4, your sisters is not in tier 4 so its fine

Ginogineli · 19/12/2020 23:32

"If you live in a tier 4 area and are going to a wedding, funeral or linked commemorative event outside the tier 4 area, the event must follow the tier 4 gathering limits on the events"

the wording suggests your can

"You can leave home to attend a place of worship for communal worship, a funeral or a related event for someone who has died, or to visit a burial ground or a remembrance garden, or to attend a wedding - but funerals, linked events and weddings are all subject to limits on the numbers that can attend"

You can stay overnight if you "need accommodation to attend a funeral or related commemorative event"

ILoveMyMonkey · 20/12/2020 08:38

@Ginogineli
Thanks for all that, believe me I don’t want to miss it but the rules are just so tricky to interpret.
For instance, it’s not happening in a ‘place of worship’ but in a wedding venue (room really) so does that still make it ok?! And if you have to follow tier 4 limits on gathering what does that mean as you can’t gather in tier 4- I’m soooo confused SadConfused. Plus we’d have to travel a significant distance and I’d be worried about being stopped by the police and whether we’d got the rules right or not.
