Did Boris say 2 households for Christmas Day not 3?

I’m sure I heard him say it was now only 2 households can meet on Christmas Day rather than 3 but all the news reports are still saying 3. Did anyone else hear this? So confusing and distressing.

I think they meant another two households so with yours that’s the three.

"In England, those living in tier 4 areas should not mix with anyone outside their own household at Christmas, though support bubbles will remain in place for those at particular risk of loneliness or isolation.

Across the rest of the country, the Christmas rules allowing up to three households to meet will now be limited to Christmas Day only, rather than the five days as previously set out."

"n tier four areas, residents will only be allowed to celebrate Christmas with members of their own household and support bubbles. They will not be allowed to travel to other tiers to see family and friends.
In areas of England in tiers one, two and three Christmas bubbles will no longer be across five days.
Instead, three households coming together will now only be allowed on Christmas Day.
People in these tiers are also being asked to stay local. They will not be allowed to host people who live in a tier four area."

Thanks, just my misunderstanding then. This is some relief in my own circumstances, much sympathy to all those who’s plans are affected.

It depends on the tier I think
Tier 4 cannot mix with any other household (unless they are in a single person/parent bubble)
Not sure about tiers 3 and 2
Anyone?

@Pinkallium I thought it was one other household too until I saw the transcript.

SmileyClare · 19/12/2020 20:53

Apart from tier 4 (no meeting other households on Christmas day) everyone else has the same Christmas bubble rules applied. It's just been restricted to one day 25th, no overnight stays.

Did the rules in Wales change again too? I last heard we had the whole 5 days but could only mix two households now instead of the original three. Has this changed again to match England? I can't keep up!

SmileyClare · 19/12/2020 23:34

Wales has brought the lockdown forward to Sunday. Only on Christmas day can 2 households meet ( plus a single household if already bubbled) Previous Christmas relaxation are scrapped.

Some days I just look at the bbc bullet points online. It does get a bit too much otherwise with information overload I agree.
Hope you can make the best of it and enjoy the day Xmas Smile
