Just that really. We made it right to the end of term and then had a positive case. All to isolate till the 26th.
It can't be helped and we will stick to the rules but I am a little bit sad!

@TheSockMonster

Sorry to everyone else who’s in the same boat.

Just to clarify, the child who tested positive has not been in school since Mum collected her on Monday when another member of the family displayed symptoms. She then developed symptoms and got a positive test result Thursday morning. They managed to get word out quickly so none of the children went in on Thursday.

Other parents have queried the school who have confirmed that there has been no contact since Monday and that this was communicated to the Outbreak Management Centre who told them, in writing, the isolation start and end dates which were communicated to parents. They are powerless to do anything other than communicate it.

My best guess is the outbreak centre (who knew that was a thing?) have panicked that people will all be mingling over Christmas and purposely delayed the start date to avoid it.

Many parents will be ignoring it. We’ve already notified everyone and adapted ours so will be sticking to it.

I'm happy to stick to the rules in general but there's way I'd go with the school in this instance. It's stupid and illogical, I'd do 10 days from when the positive child was last at school

I would also be ignoring it and doing 10 days from the Monday

We have had a call this afternoon that class member tested positive who has not been in since Tuesday, so DC have to isolate until Boxing Day.

Now wondering if this is correct in view of above?

If they had a test yesterday and results today then Tuesday is outside of the previous 48 hours?

Maybe clutching at Straws...

dementedpixie · 19/12/2020 18:48

Was your child in contact with them on Tuesday? I assume they got symptoms on Tuesday night/Wednesday and that test results took a few days to be received. T&T will then look at contacts in the previous 48 hours which would include your child.

GhostofChristmasPresent · 19/12/2020 18:55

Yes all in class Tuesday.

Rumours that other potentially now tested positive DC absent after that because isolating due to being a close contact from elsewhere.

We only got notified this afternoon.

All in School yesterday Friday as usual except isolating and now tested positive DC.

Just wondering as others on here had results and notifications days ago, with similar last contact dates, potentially this DC only developed symptoms and got tested yesterday? Results today, so symptoms not until Friday therefore more than 48 hours since Tuesday?

dementedpixie · 19/12/2020 19:07

As you don't know when symptoms started you cant say for certain when tests were done or results received. Rumours mean nothing

MindatWork · 19/12/2020 19:07

I was told by a test and trace operator yesterday that the app and the t&t service often give different dates for isolation and that it causes a lot of confusion. DD aged 2 got a positive result on Thursday - my app told me to isolate until Christmas Day as it counts from the day of the test (Tuesday).

When I spoke to test and trace on Thursday she said we only have to isolate until 22nd as they count from the first day of symptoms or the last known contact. The operator I spoke to sounded so beaten down, I think they get a lot of flack over the difference as there’s so much confusion.

Me too. Email from school telling ds to isolate until Christmas Day. It’s the second time the front row of the class have been sent home, due to a teacher testing positive, and we were told they’d change the seating plan after the first time. They didn’t.

I could ask them, however would it make a difference to the isolation dates??

Do they isolate the whole class or just those who sit close together?

Maybe it varies by School?

Gingerninja4 · 19/12/2020 19:17

Yup we are to isolate untill midnight on 24th .

Add in now tier 4 anyway .oh days it is there

Didkdt · 19/12/2020 19:21

@BigSisLittleSisCardboardBox

You should be angry with the politicians. Children need to be in school, but pretending there was virtually no risk when the evidence suggested otherwise was unfair and meant that the actual risk was not tackled properly.
Absolute nonsense children don’t need to be in school more than they need everything else. Schools worked their socks off to protect the children without causing psychological harm to them children cannot socially distance and schools should have moved on line weeks ago
Bvop · 19/12/2020 19:26

@GhostofChristmasPresent it’s a teacher who tested positive so they only send home the front row as ds’s school

GhostofChristmasPresent · 19/12/2020 19:31

Thanks @Bvop

This is the second whole class send home we have had.

The first one was the Teacher in a different class, this one a DC in our class tested positive.

Maybe all schools are different?

marvelousmadmadammim · 19/12/2020 19:49

We've got 3 different dates. Last in school Monday
Told to isolate until the 23rd by school. Tuesday, did a test as although we didn't have the 3 symptoms dd wasn't right and it was 5 cases in her form.
Positive result Thursday - app said 25th to isolate.
Test and trace phone call and texts say 24th
