I have a dairy intolerance and when I have dairy I get a stuffed nose and lots of post nasal drip meaning I need to clear my throat (not cough) usually after sleeping.

Sat night I met my DBro for wine and ate lots of cheese, woke up completely stuffed up throat all caught up and had to cough to clear it which made my throat hurt a bit. I then broke my tooth on Sunday. Cue throbbing in mouth nose and head in general. I also started sneezing.

It’s now Thursday. I took an antihistamine today and my sneezing stopped but I had the dentist today and my mouth/head is still throbbing.

I am not coughing, I had my temperature done at dentist and it’s fine. I have a slight headache but again I’ve had a week of a stuffed nose and toothache. My throat is fine now.

Could I have covid?

I am due a private test before Christmas and going home but before that I’m supposed to meet my sister and her newborn baby.... I just want to cancel as I’m so anxious. But I know she’s really looking forward to seeing me.

Before meeting my DBro I hadn’t seen anyone - I WFH no DC and only went to the shop where I masked up and sanitised.

Ps what I’m doing is within the rules for me - I’m not in the U.K.

I have health anxiety and I’m freaking out. I just want to never see anyone again!!

You have a dairy intolerance and you ate a load of cheese. Of course there's a reaction. I know it's really easy to say calm down, be logical, and way less easy to do - but step back a bit and think about it.

Is there anyway you can be tested before you see your sister and the baby?

Sounds like you have/had a cold (stuffed nose, sneezing, headache). You don't have any of the main covid symptoms so I'd say it's highly unlikely.

Thanks both, I still have a stuffed up nose this morning. I don’t know if I will go visit my sister - it’s just so stressful. I’m meant to go tomorrow so I can’t get a test and results in time. I don’t want to let her down as I know it’s hard being on own with new baby and we’re likely heading into lockdown here again after Christmas so who knows when I could see her - I really don’t know what to do!!!!

Talked to my sister and agreed I wouldn’t go visit. Even if it’s just a cold it’s not good to be around a baby and if it’s covid at least I won’t have spread it to her. Thanks for listening.

I’ll be very happy to get my test and a negative hopefully next week
