Question about vaccine booking for my dad

Hoping someone can answer this as he is refusing to ring his gp!

My dad is over 80 and in north Essex. He had a text inviting him to book a jab at Basildon Hospital but by the time he checked the buses the slots were all gone.

He is not overkeen to travel to Basildon as it will involve two buses and take 2.5 hours each way- he is not housebound but is a bit fragile. There seem to be several nearer hubs (eg Colchester) and I imagine there will be a local gp offering jabs at some point. There is no rush as he and my mum aren’t really going anywhere or seeing anyone.

The thing I am hoping someone will know is, now he is on a Basildon list does that mean he will be crossed off his local gp list and have to go to Basildon? Or will he still be on his gp’s list till he has had the jab and he just needs to sit tight and wait to be called to somewhere nearer?

Sorry to post on here instead of doing the sensible thing and phoning up but he is in ‘don’t want to be a nuisance’ mode and I am hoping someone on here knows how things work!

It might be worth them phoning their GP at some point. It's obviously going to be done differently everywhere, my Uncle and Auntie in the Midlands had a personal call from their GP's surgery with vaccine dates for them!
