Does anyone know how long it is taking for test results to come back?

I am in the SE at the minute and waiting for a result! If it's positive, we have to stay in till Christmas Day, so just wondering how much online shopping to try and do now, as I won't be able to go in person.

My husband had one on Monday morning and it came back last night.
I had one a couple of hours after him on Monday and it came back this morning.

Thank you! This was yesterday at 10am, so maybe tonight then 🤞.

I got results back in 12 hours which was amazing. We're in Scotland.

AstridAv · 16/12/2020 14:32

SE 24 hours for us. Last week

JeanMichelBisquiat · 16/12/2020 14:37

SE, 50 hours and about 60 hours this week 🙄 a neighbour's test two days earlier came back in about 18 hours, though. Our previous tests have all take about 24 hours.

DragonmotherKhaleesi · 16/12/2020 14:38

My son had a test on Monday at 2pm, still waiting for results. Midlands.

BlackInk · 16/12/2020 14:47

Less than 24 hours for us on Sunday/Monday, South West UK.

humtar · 16/12/2020 14:56

London here, test Sun 10.30am, results Mon 8am.

Oh right, sounds as if they have slowed down. Probably overwhelmed at the moment, although test centre itself wasn't busy. Expect the labs are. Last time one of us had a test at the same centre, it was about 36 hours I think.

SW. 39 hours last week (at 3am in the morning).

JeanMichelBisquiat · 16/12/2020 18:13

Am feeling a bit hard done by now Grin wonder if mine were a duff batch, or are processed in the same place as the Midlands tests are.

Couldn't fault the testing centre capacity, though - we were able to get a test straight away.

JeanMichelBisquiat · 16/12/2020 18:14

Ps fingers crossed for a quick result and a negative, OP!

Frownette · 16/12/2020 18:23

I was wondering if results had been slowed down this week because of Christmas looming and seasonal flu/colds making it hard to differentiate between them. Also people are much more aware that it's not only the 'big three symptoms' which count.

I'm only speculating.

I'm still waiting, let's hope we get our test results through soon.

TriSeaSwim99 · 16/12/2020 18:25

24hrs in SW this week.

Crakeandoryx · 16/12/2020 18:44

North, tier 3, last ones were back in 19 hours. This time we were told at least 48 hour wait. Might be before but probably not. I have just put in a christmas order for collection on Saturday. It's the only slot available and I'll have to freeze most of it. If the test is negative I can cancel the order.

Lifeispassingby · 16/12/2020 19:30

I’m also in SE waiting for results and managed to get a delivery slot for tomorrow but nothing else available in this area until jan 3rd!! I’ve done a mighty big shop to see us through if need be!

Lifeispassingby · 17/12/2020 11:06

@SallyCinnamonYoureMyWorld have you had your results yet?

SallyCinnamonYoureMyWorld · 17/12/2020 11:08

Yes, results back and negative Smile! Woohoo! At least I can buy my last minute bits for Christmas now...I may have gone a bit mad online anyway though...

East London here. Walk in test Tuesday 8am, nothing back yet (51hrs and counting).

AngelsWithSilverWings · 17/12/2020 11:43

6pm Friday test , result Sunday 10am South East

Lifeispassingby · 18/12/2020 05:09

East Kent here where numbers are sky high, tested weds 7:30am and still waiting! Contacts since Sunday would need to isolate but carrying on as normal could be spreading it, maybe this is why numbers are increasing?!

pickledsausage · 18/12/2020 05:19

SE, mum tested Monday, results just back early hours of this morning. Bloody ages!!

LastChristmas19 · 18/12/2020 06:26

Had two experiences here. First test took 3/4 days and the second (this week) was back in less than 24 hours - in southwest. Both negative.

SansaSnark · 18/12/2020 07:17

4 weeks ago I got a test result in under 24 hours in the SW. It took a colleague about 72 hours this week. I'm not sure if it's just luck of the draw or if there's less lab capacity at the moment?
