I miss my mum so much!

I have not seen my mum for over a year due to Covid as she lives abroad. I can't stop crying about it. I have been mentally unwell and was discharged at the end of June. I really could have done with her support. I feel very alone a lot as support is almost non-existant due to Covid. I just miss her so, so much and really wish she could be here 😭

I know exactly how you feel. Well maybe not exactly as my mum doesn't live abroad, but far enough away that Covid has made it so I haven't seen her since Feb Sad. I've never ever gone this long without seeing her before and every time I think about it I start to cry. I feel like I'm a teenager on a school trip again, full of anxiety and just wanting to go home to my mum!
I'm supposed to see her next week but everyone is saying it's too dangerous now and I feel so conflicted and guilty.
Sorry OP, it must be so hard. I hope your mum feels better soon and it won't be too much longer until you're together again Flowers.

Oh I'm sorry, must be so hard for you. Do you communicate by zoom?

I'm sure she's sending you a virtual hug.

Me too.

My mum is in a nursing home that has been closed since lockdown in March. Due to her condition she has no body control so can’t hold a phone or, even if someone held one to her, she couldn’t speak.

It’s heart breaking.

Same. I haven’t seen mine since July. I know I’m luckier than some, but they live the other side of England to me. We are north, they are south. It’s very depressing. They miss their grandson (my DS) a lot, he’s grown up so much since they saw him, it’s so sad.

Frownette · 16/12/2020 12:48

I haven't really missed out too much, bit grumpy I can't see my closest friends (it would involve travel) but I've got newer friends on hand and relative.

I can imagine how awful it would be not seeing people you desperately want to.

Thank you everyone! And sorry to hear so many in the same position. We had a little chat over Watsapp and I send some pics of the kids. Here's hoping we can all be reunited as soon as possible Flowers

Sympathy to everyone missing someone.

I've seen my DPs once this year. We're not meeting over Christmas. It really is hard.

@motherrunner
I'm so sorry. I feel for anyone in your mum's position, it must be awful for you both.

How old is your mum? My parents are over 70 and when they have been vaccinated I will go and visit them abroad.
