I am in GM and need to go to a tier 2 area ( need). i can't find any information on the timing of an announcement. I suppose they are busy with the back of an envelope planning as I write.

According to my local council, they expect to be told of the tier change late on the 16th, announce it to us on the 17th and it’ll apply from 00:01 on the 18th.

Although with the London change happening early, the pressure not to downgrade anywhere from scientists and the Christmas plans now being reviewed, it could vary, I expect...

But that's what the original plan was.

Is the need something covered by the legislation? If so, you can go regardless of the announcement.

(Freudian slip there - the guidance, not the legislation. I don't think that the ban on travelling between areas is in the legislation at all, it's just guidance).

Agree was due to be 16th. I don't foresee any downgrades seeing how the press is predicting Christmas being cancelled etc.

Is it for caring for them? You can do that anyway even in tier 3!

Lissy23 · 15/12/2020 17:47

I live in West Yorkshire and our rates have come down massively, if this was anywhere in the south they’d be going straight into tier 2, but I guess we’ll be left in tier 3 which is hugely unfair.

They have carers, its a visit, thanks.

My dm has carers, yet it's still written in her care plan that family visits are important.

There is no care plan, but that's another story.

I think you can still stay in a hotel and they just ask for a reason and say visiting elderly relatives for care reasons. We are in North East tier 3 and Oh has travelled for ward and another friend travelled to see a dying relative both stayed in hotels not many questions asked.
