Public health have said sharp rise in all ages particularly young people.
Now the virus is hitting London areas hard it will be harder to fudge the rise in schools closing and kids with cases so now have they come up with this new variant that the north had from September?

They have said it's spreading quicker but again I think they are saying this to defend their decisions with schools being open.

How are they covering up a rise in cases of school age children when the info is there for all to see?

Sorry I phrased it wrong I meant not covering up rise in school cases but they admitting kids can carry the virus and schools aren't COVID safe like they keep saying and now it's hit London and spreading like it did in the north but obviously much more schools then they have to admit schools aren't COVID safe so they are saying it's a new variant that's spreading quicker to save face

My thoughts were that it is scare into everyone into not mixing at Christmas without them having to tell us not to.

I do remember reading an article about a month ago about a new strain in, I think, Italy. They said it spread much more easily & quickly but they thought was possibly not quite as bad if you catch it.
By that very vague comment you can probably guess im no expert but I wondered if this might be the same strain

Yes, it's a conspiracy by all the medical people and their staff throughout the land in league with the politicians, the civil service, etc. It must be world wide in fact or experts outside of their control would dispute it.

School children were never safe. They were just statistically less likely to die than adults and we needed the schools open so parents could work. It was always a compromise between what we'd like to do and what was possible or practical.

No one said it was safe at Christmas. How many posters actually thought they the virus even knew it was Christmas? That was another compromise because of morale and because hardly anyone would have obeyed the rules at Christmas anyway.

Yes dear, everything the government do or say about coronavirus is linked to schools. Obviously it will be a lot of work for them to make up the data to satisfy the international scientific community who will be pouring over it. But if it keeps schools open..

I believe that there is a new strain, but I agree that the reporting about it is a) to scare people into not mixing over xmas and b) to try to excuse the increased spread in schools

I definitely think there is a new variant, aren't there always with viruses and that the government is using this to distract from other things by putting a lot of probably unnecessary importance onto reporting it. Similarly they use news like terror attacks to slip in things they don't want you to hear about. It's all just a diversion.
