Burning throat - anyone had this as a symptom?

I suddenly came down with a very sore throat yesterday, mid-morning. I've very rarely ever had a sore throat. By the afternoon I felt generally unwell, no temperature though and have an occasional cough.
The painful throat has turned into the most awful burning sensation. It's difficult to describe.
I got a negative result on Friday to a routine test I did at work on Thursday.
I'm going to need to be tested now anyway before I can return to work (hospital) but just wondering if the burning sensation is familiar to anyone who has tested positive.

I was negative with my sore throat (Zoe app sent me for a test).

Not sure this is what you'll want to hear, but I would describe my initial sore throat as burning. One side only. Next day started with a mild cough. Tested positive and now experiencing some of the more classic symptoms - fever, breathlessness, tight chest.

Hopefully yours isn't covid though.

Thanks. My burning throat was yesterday and I had a mild cough like you today and also a constant headache. Could be any virus I suppose. Hope you get better soon and in time for christmas.

I had a sore throat, sneezing and headache, the symptoms are changing away from the big 3 and can definitely be more like a cold. This is why it is spreading as people simply do not think they fit the criteria!

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't check back in. I got a Covid test which was negative but I have been diagnosed with a chest and sinus infection.
I've been really ill but on antibiotics and steroids and starting to feel better now.
Hope everyone feels better soon.
