Tier review on 16th December - when will they announce it?

It's been widely publicised that the restriction tiers will be reviewed on 16th December. Presumably changes to the rules come into force on that date, so when will they announce any changes? How much notice will we get?

I think cabinet meeting in the morning, announce to parliament after lunch, press conference at 5pm.

PurpleDaisies · 11/12/2020 16:51

Sorry, pressed post. I think the rules will change a few days later. Maybe the 19th.

None of this is based on any special knowledge by me! Just what I’ve seen happen before.

Yes, I think you're probably right. I think they're meeting on 16th to discuss it and any changes will kick in a few days later. I'd love to know exactly when! Can't wait to get out of Tier 3.

Me too @Dauphinois!

Is your area likely to go down? I’m very hopeful we will.

Dauphinois · 11/12/2020 17:12

I really hope so. Rates are very low in our rural area but we're lumped together with more urban parts of the midlands which has dragged us into tier 3. We're 5 mins from the borders of 2 other counties, both of which are tier 2, and our MP put in an objection, so fingers crossed!

It’s a similar situation in my rural village! We’ve been lumped in with Bristol. I’m hoping since the cases are significantly down for both we’re going to be ok.

It only matters me so much because of the rules about not going across the Wales border from a tier 3 area. All my family are there and I haven’t seen them for months.

It's so frustrating isn't it. Fingers crossed!
