No way to amend coronavirus test appointment?!

This seems crazy to me. I booked a test and just as I read out the confirmation time my husband said "any time but then" as he will be looking after our son whilst I go but he HAS to attend one meeting online today and I had chosen the one time that meeting was on. I'd also chosen the car with no baby seat so couldn't even take him son with me whilst I took the test.

Uft what a mess. So now I've had to go back on and book a second test with no way of cancelling the first. Surely there should be an "amend my test booking slot" option or something.
There mustve been thousands of wasted test slots so far with various reasons for not attending.

I don’t think the time really matters so long as you have the QR code.

starfish4 · 11/12/2020 09:02

Phone 119, you might be able to cancel it. I had a query about my test, the lady was lovely.

AntiHop · 11/12/2020 09:03

I went at a different time, the testing centre didn't care.

AntiHop · 11/12/2020 09:04

What do you mean to chose the car with no baby seat?

Horehound · 11/12/2020 09:08

@AntiHop sorry I mean we have two cars and I stupidly chose the car which doesn't have our fixed baby seat in place so we could have rectufied the issue if I had chosen the other car. You have to put your numberplate into the system you see.

Put the car seat into the car you’re taking

Horehound · 11/12/2020 09:09

I'm surprised at the responses because everywhere on the site its like you must turn up at this time...don't be late etc etc.

@Smallsteps88 I can't it's fixed into place it's not just strapped in with seatbelts.
But also doesn't matter now as I've already booked the second one. I'm going to call as per above poster and see if I can cancel.

I would just move the car seat. Surely it isn't glued in?!

Mousehole10 · 11/12/2020 09:27

If it’s isofix base then it’s pretty easy to move it. Just change the car seat to other car and problem solved!

ShivD · 11/12/2020 09:29

Despite the lateness warnings I think they’re actually pretty flexible as long as you have a QR code. So I’d just turn up before or after the meeting.

firecracker69 · 11/12/2020 09:44

I went 20 mins early.... nobody even questioned it

Horehound · 11/12/2020 09:47

Right ok so I just didn't realise they didn't care so much about the time! Whoops.

But still...it would be sensible to be able to amend. Maybe for busier places certainly to avoid waste.

Car seat yeh it's isofix but it's a joie360 and It seems really bulky to move and actually I'm not even sure it would fit in the small car!
